This product is not so great. I bought it for my mom for Christmas since she had been wanting one and it worked, but you have to do a lot of cranking to get it to hold a charge for even just 20 seconds. The little adaptor things for phones are really confusing, even for someone who is good with electronics. There are much better products out there that hold a better charge and are less of a pain to figure out. I got myself the two pack of "Duracell Crank Light 3 in 1, 3 LED Flashlight, Radio, Charger" from Costco and it is awesome. If you only want this for the crank feature, it's an ok product (if you're okay with also using it for your daily workout), but if you want to use the other features (which you probably do if you're looking at a combo one) then you should get a different one. This one is lame.

This is an all in one item for a globetrotter. An item to store in a suitcase just in case needed.

My recco: this makes also a great item to store in the glove compartment of your car .. again for the just in case needed situations.

The integrated radio plays extremely well in regard to the compact size of this flashlight.

The self powered flashlight is a great contribution to mother earth, no empty batteries to dispose anymore ... FABULOUS!

This multi-purpose flashlight can definately come in handy, and it gets surprisingly good radio reception, you have to be holding it for the best though. The only problem is that with the phone charger, it has to be plugged in and wound at the same time; you can't just wind the flashlight a lot to store a charge on it's battery and then transfer the power over. This makes for a bit of a problem, but otherwise, good tool.

For what I paid for it, this was a good self-powered flashlight. The light is bright and the radio is clear and easy to use. The alarm is kind of lame...it is one of those self-defense alarms and it is not a very good one. Also, I'm pretty sure the cell phone charger is not compatible with either my phone or my husbands (I have a Motorola Razor, he has a blackberry of some sort). Overall, I would say that for between $10 and $20, this is a good choice for a self-powered flashlight/radio. If you are looking for the cell phone charger or alarm, look somewhere else.

This illuminator has extra functions--the radio, alarm, light, and the mobile phone charger. I really like the light, the alarm, and the radio best, but for many people the mobile charger would be the best! I look forward to more energy efficient products--crank, solar, shake--as long as we reduce the number of batteries discarded, as well as the flashlight housing, and lights that can't be reused.

I needed a battery-less flashlight, a few extra features would have been a plus. This illuminator is a hardy piece, I was pleased to see the build quality. Children are quite fascinated by the crank and the alarm functions. The radio quality was surprisingly good, at times one doesn't get a good reception and at other times it's very clear.

As someone mentioned here, to be able to charge the mobile phone, you must keep cranking while charging, this is a bit of a bother, but then one would not be doing this on a regular basis. Also, one can attach adapters for various mobile models to the provided cable in order to charge different phone models. I have tested a LG phone and a Sony Ericsson model using adapters.

I didn't find the torch very bright, and there is no documentation as to how much cranking is needed for how many minutes of power. I guess one will have to use it and learn by experience.

For me, the best thing about this is no batteries! I haven't had this product very long but I am happy with my purchase. While I don't see too many emergency situations, I think one can find many uses for the Illuminator by using one's imagination.

This is a great product. I really like it. Only my complain is that it would be nice what type of cell phone can be adapted from this cell's charger is mentioned in the details of this product. I have a Sanyo (from Sprint) but the charger seems like to adapt only Nokia.
Anyway, I don't think cell wouldn't work if all power is out.

This is a piece of junk. I bought a few crank flash light as xmas gifts for families -- these are the worst of the worst. The first two came broken completely and the company offer to send me replacements. The replacements does not work as it said. It last less than 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes for cranking like more than 1 minutes. If this is an emergency, I think I would need to crank myself to dead to keep the lights up.

With shipping added to this, you are paying the same price as this this "Duracell Crank Light 3 in 1, 3 LED Flashlight, Radio, Charger". The Duracell works great!! Cranking for 10 seconds you get your lights 10 plus minutes. The radio is fantastic also.

For the price, this was a great gift and since we had so many power outages in Ohio lately, this was also a very welcomed gift, especially with the cell phone charger (lots of adapters to fit most phones). Would also be great for camping or backpacking.

I did not test this personally, but it seemed to be a quality item.

Doesn't hold the charge at all. Kaito KA404 Emergency Hand Crank Dynamo 5-LED Flashlight with AM/FM radio was much much better
