Immersion in Sound, January 17, 2007

Somewhere in their musical experimentation Burke & Klein discovered this heavy masculine atmosphere. Synthesized with modulated drones and reverberations these lenthy compositions are redused to a few divisions of sound. Both harmonious and dissonant an equivocal depth has been achieved with a minimum of condiment. (You must listen to these pieces at a higher volume setting. They shall certainly draw you in.) In "Immerse" the listener is absourbed by a tornadic overwhelming brooding wall of sound. Dark acidic winds on a high empty plateau blow through "Holding". In "P.O.E." you are engulfed in a bulbous droning cloud. This is not decorative music. Instead OF & THE is a sound tide blanketing your surroundings. The graphic foldout is appropriately a wall of water. This lengthy double CD collection is a masterpiece of experimental ambient minimalism.
