When I first heard this album, I was quite a bit surprised, and disappointed. Sorma's previous CD, Mirage of the East, was gorgeous, lush, fresh. I put this in and found that the majority of the music is techno-dance, and almost entirely programmed, and devoid of the human feel that Mirage of the East and all the other music on the Pacific Moon catalog has. They even re-mixed some of the tracks, riffs and bits from Mirage of the East, which were very hard to swallow.
But I listened. I took a break. I listened some more. I listened on the iPod here and there, in the car, surfing the net, and once my mind opened up to what kind of music it was, instead of focusing on what it wasn't, it grew on me, quite a bit. Judged on it's own, it's a damned good trance/dance techno CD with an Asian bend to it. Some of the tracks are ambient in nature, and a few others are more up front; It's extremely well produced and mixed, and it doesn't fall entirely into the trap so much music from this era does in not having the strength to evolve. It does that quite well. Plus, I've never quite heard anything like it. But I still hesitate to fully recommend it, especially to fans of Mirage of the East, or Pacific Moon listeners. It's not easy to get your ear around. But if you read this review it might help prepare you for what kind of music this CD contains, and if you think you might like it for what it is, there's a good chance you'll get into it as well.

What a dissapointment! Sorma's Mirage of the East CD was such an incredible work of art, I've played it in the evening dozens of times. Then I bought this...It's the same tracks from other CD's but with a loud, continuous techno disco beat. The SAME techno beat, continuously, through the whole CD. To create this CD must have taken 4 or 5 minutes; program their other songs, turn on a boom box, and come back an hour later with a finished product.

I recently started integrating some of the songs into my aerobic cycling class and the students are going wild over these tracks. They become so involved with the music I can see them in their own trip while pumping hard as hell!

THIS CD IS THE BEST TRANCE CD IN THE WORLD.. IT MAKES ME FEEL CRAZY ALL OVER.. THE INCENSE IN THE SPINE OF THE CD IS GIZZ, THE MUSIC IS GIZZ.. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS CD IS THAT IT DOESN'T LAST FOR HOURS AND HOURS ON END. IT LEAVES YOU WANTING MORE ONCE YOU COMPLETE THE CD. THEN YOU REPLAY THE CD, AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW IS THAT YOU ARE STARTING TO FEEL SLEEPY. IF YOU WERE TIRED BEFORE, YOU ARE ASLEEP NOW, IF YOU WEREN'T TIRED BEFORE THEN YOU ARE AFTER LISTENING TO IT A FEW TIMES, AND MY GOODNESS DO YOU EVER SLEEP WELL.. WHOO!! GOTTA LOVE THAT.
