5.0 out of 5 stars Great! This is the ONLY game I ever play! I love it! December 29, 2001
This game is wonderful! My friend and I play it all the time! Its actually challenging! It also has secret places and bonuses! There is not violence, which I appreciate, and the weapon used is a blanket! You can play this game either one or two player, which decides which levels you will go to. There are two players to choose from, Mickey and Donald, who help eachother through the game to defeat it. The setting of the game is explained during the introduction, when Mickey and Donald are preparing for a magic show, when Donald spots a mysterious box, steps in side, and dissappears! Mickey inspects the box too, and he dissappears also. They are transported to a treasure box and must find their way out to return to the show. In the end, they must fight the master of the game, which is difficult! There are also passwords to help you beat the game easier. This is our favorite game, well worth the money! I know you'll love it as much as I do! tootles!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good kids' games. June 13, 2011
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My buddy was part of a team of Sega game developers, and used to come home with the then new Sega Genesis gaming system, and a variety of cartridges. Loads of fun. I broke down and bought one a year or two later, and rented a variety of games from the local video store. Most of what I played were the sports' games, but every now and then I took a chance on something that looked interesting.

I rented World of Illusion just to see what kind of sequel had been created for Castle of Illusion, and was impressed with some (for the time at least) very impressive video game console graphics, stunning artwork accompanied by music that gave the feel for the environment in which you, as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, explored.

As can be expected from a kids' game, it's somewhat easy, but it's got that kind of innocent fun and innocent adventure packed into it. Some real talent went into developing this game, and although I'm far too old to really enjoy it, I still have fond memories of reliving a child hood with a sense of wonder, amazement and innocence.

Would it not be fun to be able to jump onto a cloud and ride it through the sky? Would it not be fun to be able to explore an undersea kingdom with giant shells and sunken pirate ships? You can do that here.

It would be interesting to see some of these classic SEGA games revamped with modern graphics. But maybe that's asking for too much, as the graphics work for what they are now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very great, but a little too easy. May 23, 2012
A Kid's Review
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
World of Illusion is a great game, with awesome graphics and gameplay. You choose who you want too be, Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse. Both have the same abilities, althought Mickey's cape is Red and Donald's is Blue. (Attack) There are some plaform stages but nothing too difficult for a 7-10 year old.

About the easy part: The boss fights seem too have the same pattern, four or five hits and you're done.

I enjoyed this title for the most part, except like I said before. The boss fights are too easy for a 12+ year old, but hey. This game was made for kids, but still enjoyable too the older croud.

I recommend this for anybody who is a big Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome classic July 6, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have played this game since I was 3. I thought it was very entertaining (although a bit confusing and difficult, too). Donald's story is definitely harder than Mickey's. I recommend Mickey's story for beginners and quick games. I have never played it on a physical Genesis/MegaDrive, but I have played it on GENS emulator for PC, GENS 32 emulator for PC, and KEGA Fusion (Or just Fusion now) emulator for PC and beaten it about 3 times as Mickey, and once as Donald. I highly recommend this for people who still own their Genesis or MegaDrive.

Man I loved this game as a kid and I still do. Just pure unadulterated fun with some challenge and fantastic levels. Great fun for kids and adults. If kids still play the genesis...

Arrived quickly, and when I started it, the memories came pouring back. I miss the days when I was a kid and didn't have to do things like pay rent or go to work. I mean c'mon people, rent? You can't like OWN the land.

Oh wait, you can. My bad, here is the rent.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lovely game January 8, 2004
This sequel to Mickey's Castle of Illusion may have been far too easy but the level on animation (at the time) was wonderful and it had a strong Autumn atmosphere. The plot this time is that both Minnie and Daisy have been kidnapped by an evil witch (the one from Snow White I think) and it's up to the mouse and the duck to rescue them. I played as Donald of course as he is much better than Mickey.
