About the Author

Richard Bach's inspirational classic "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is one of the few books that dominated the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for two consecutive years. With humor, wisdom and insight that could only come from one of the world's most beloved authors and an accomplished pilot, his most recent book, "Travels with Puff", recounts Bach's journey from Florida to Washington state in his small seaplane, Puff. With over 60,000,000 copies of his books sold, Richard Bach remains one of the world's most beloved authors. A former USAF fighter pilot, Air Force captain and latter-day barnstorming pilot, Bach continues to be an avid aviator-author, exploring and chronicling the joys and freedom of flying, reporting his findings to his devoted fans. His latest book, "Illusions II", is a remarkable account of his angel’s lessons, by the way of a seaplane crash. His website is www.richardbach.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars A profound, beautiful story February 7, 2014
By Jack H
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Illusions II is a profound, beautifully written experience of what it is like to die, and how Richard ended up alive and writing again.

In college Richard Bach's Illusions changed my life. The quotes in the books became personal and social values (for example, argue for your limitations, sure enough they're yours.)

While I didn't know what to expect from Illusions II, Richard Bach delivers again. What is more amazing is that Richard wrote this after his accident and near death in his beloved plane, Puff, in 2012. The miracle that Richard is flying and writing again is astounding.

The opportunity to read one of the best-selling inspirational writers of our time share his personal experience with death, and subsequent decision to come back to life, make Illusions II extraordinary.

3.0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed with this book February 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book a few days ago and wanted to think long and hard before reviewing it. Here are my thoughts.

I have always loved Richard Bach but I can't give this book 5 stars based on loyalty rather than honest criticism.

I was expecting this book to feel insightful and new but instead I felt it held back a lot of emotion and feeling and I particularly expected at least some reflections on Richard's life while he went through this experience. I would have liked these to be spoken by Richard and not Donald Shimoda or the ferrets. What I'm trying to say was that this book held a wall up against any vulnerability or lessons learnt. At least it felt that way.

It was however, lovely to know that Richard is doing well and to hear about his courageous and fast recovery experience.

Perhaps naming the book 'Illusions II' leaves readers expecting the same high standard and insights as written in 'Illusions'.

I continue to cherish Richard's other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars What was life in a coma like for Richard Bach....? February 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The search for this new book was like a treasure hunt as i was looking into all corners of the internet trying to find what Richard Bach was up to next-certainly there was going to be a story...one that would fill in all the gaps that were out in the social media realms about his recovery and most importantly his insights into his near fatal accident of last year. Well lo and behold found it here, with a little help from my friends, as a kindle and just gobbled it right up. It was just perfect in all the ways i like to experience Richard Bach's work. In this book the author recontes his experiences following the crash...both in hosiptal, and in his coma state, in which he encounters another consciousness where choices have to be made. Throughout this journey from broken body, broken plane....and in his other consciousness perfect expressions in spirit of himsel,f he also meets up with Donald Shimoda (from Illusions), his beloved sheltie dog Lucky, and his most enduring flying lady friend Puff. His journey throughout the book hops from in and out of these states of consciousness ultimately leading to his choice to return to space time not only to be with his steadfast, closest friend Sabryna who reinforces his affirmations of perfect expression, but also to rebuild Puff, his dear SeaRey amphibian plane so that Puff can experience life in space time with him again. Overall the story ,for me, presents an affirmation of how we as spirits are perfect expressions. This story can inspire those who are looking for a richer and fuller life, and can lead to a better appreciation of our cycle in time and space experienced as life and death.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - Certainly not a sequel to Illusions February 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Illusions: the Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah was a rather defining book in my life. I believe that it might have had more influence over my belief systems than any other book. I've probably read Illusions-Messiah 20-30 times and I've always been a huge fan of Richard Bach. I've loved and read and reread Jonathon, Bridge Across Forever, One, and others.

I didn't even think or look before downloading Illusions II. How could I not instantly start reading the sequel to the most wonderful and thought-provoking book ever written? Sadly, this is not a sequel to the original Illusions. It's a rambling hodgepodge of thoughts and dreams with occasional references to previous books Richard Bach has written.

Yes, Donald Shimoda makes a few appearances, but Donald's not his old self and they don't really embark on any adventures. Jonathon Livingston Seagull kind-of makes an appearance, but it seems very forced. And if you are a fan of the Ferret Chronicles and you are looking for a ferret appearance, you will find them mentioned too. But briefly and poorly defined.

But like all Richard Bach books, there are pearls of wisdom and I highlighted a few passages. And I will read this book again, hopefully I can get more out of it when I lower my expectations, when I'm not expecting a sequel to Illusions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bach is back.. February 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the first page, I immediately felt like I was with an old friend that had been with me most of my life. Someone that had accentuated my love of flight.
When I saw his continuation of the versus from the first Illusions, I smiled. As I read and learned about his crash and how he survived it, questions were answered that I had wanted to know from the first news of the accident. As I read, it became more and more Bach.
What I didn't expect was the profound effect that the ending had on me. I found it difficult to read the last chapter through the tears of joy that I was shedding.
A wonderful book by a wonderful writer.
