There's No Hiding Place From Memories

Delaney Westcott is a beautiful career woman in a man's world. Owner and chief asset of a personal security business--where she guards the rich and famous from the unwanted attention of friends and enemies--she can take care of herself. Except for the one time she didn't: when she fell headlong for handsome cowboy Jared McCallister, a man she couldn't have.

After it ended suddenly, Delaney threw herself into her work with a fury and intensity calculated to erase every other thought from her mind. And she promised that she'd never let any man touch her so deeply again. Ever.

But when Delaney finds herself in Jared's hometown of Aspen, Colorado, on a dangerous job, she begins to wonder if she is strong enough to refuse him a second time. . . .

From Booklist

Delaney Wescott, a security expert, is summoned to protect rock star Lucas Wayne after a deranged former lover, singer-actress Rino Cole, tries to shoot him. Protection includes preparing Lucas' home in Aspen, Colorado, for round-the-clock surveillance. While in Aspen, Delaney runs into her former lover, Jared, and is drawn to him even though he betrayed her many years ago. Lucas is also pressuring Delaney for a more intimate relationship, and Delaney's partner Riley is maneuvering to cut both men out of her life. When a shooting at Lucas' estate lands Delaney in jail for murder, the complicated tangle of truth and deception surrounding the case begins to unravel. As Delaney struggles to clear her name and choose the right man for her, persistent investigation leads to a detailed plot to use Delaney as a scapegoat, with ties reaching far into her past. Dailey is the author of more than 90 romance novels; several of her recent ones have been best-sellers. Careful writing and brilliant characterizations create an engrossing read, marred only by the disappearance of a potentially strong plot twist early in the book. Highly recommended. 3.0 out of 5 stars Female security expert has men at her feet., May 11, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Illusions (Hardcover)
Delaney Wescott, former lawyer and FBI agent, now runs her own private security firm. She is hired by a famous actor, Lucas Wayne, to guard him from a former lover who has threatened his life. Delaney is tall, dark, beautiful and strong, and three men in the story can't resist her. The actor, of course, because she is off limits. Her former lover, who was married, and just happens to live in the town where Lucas Wayne has his house. And her long suffering partner, who has loved her for years, waiting for her to get over her married lover. The action is all at the end, and aside from a few small plot twists there isn't much passion in either her present or her past for the reader to sink into. It's a light summer read at best. And I'll bet you can guess who she ends up with..

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad...., February 22, 2007
By
This review is from: Illusions (Mass Market Paperback)
Overall, the story was good but what was missing was more character development and relationship background between Delaney and the one she ends up with. The story's end was too abrupt and and epilogue would have been nice.
