2.0 out of 5 stars Very basic coverage, lacks in-depth detail, July 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: An Illustrated Data Guide to Submarines of World War II (Hardcover)
Covers sub classes from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and USA. Has either artwork or a photo of most types and very basic information such as class, displacement, dimensions, armament, propulsion and performance. There is also a very brief history of each class.

This is just a bare-bones overview book without a lot of "meat" to it. There are no internal or cut-away figures. This would be an adequate book for someone wanting very "basic" info on subs from all WW-2 navies. However, for in-depth design, the reader should probably want to stick with "The Floating Dry Dock" or Friedman's "US Subs through 1945: An illustrated design history".
