4.0 out of 5 stars Good, basic dream interpretation guide
Concise A-Z reference of dream elements and components. As a beginner, I found this book to be self-explanatory and easy to use. So good that I have passed it on to several friends who have purchased it themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for serious dreamers. :)
I got this book for Christmas along with a Dream Interpreter CD. This book basically has listing of many dream symbols as well as 'actions' such as 'if you lit a match..'. The reason I rated this book a three is that it's been somewhat helpful. A lot of symbols I wanted to know, I could not find them in the book and found them online instead. Searching for a dream symbol is a pain since the alphabetized symbols are all smashed together. Each symbol is CAPITALIZED but you also have many bolded words in there that makes it all a big mess when trying to find symbols. However, I believe this book is for more casual dreamers who just want to know a few things. If you're a serious dreamer who want it all, this book is not for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good beginer book, January 14, 2002

The illustrated dream dictionary gives you what over 2,000 things mean in dreams including, people, events, places, and objects.

I purchased this book a while ago and still use it. It gives you very basic definitions of what things could mean in your dreams. Everything is listed in alphbetical order, making whatever it is your looking for, easy to find.

I have noticed though that a lot of things mean the same exact thing as something else. I can't tell you how many times I have read 'this is a good omen', or 'this is a bad omen', and then they don't elaborate on what kind of bad or good thing it could be.

So if your just looking to have a little fun and not take your dreams THAT seriously then this is the book for you, but if you really want to know the hidden meaning of your dreams I would buy a book that gives a little better description for things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Structured like a Dictionary.. Makes it Easy to Decipher, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
Easy to follow guidelines when trying to look up certian dream sequences. Also separates out each individual aspect, item, or thought of a dream. Bought the book out of curiousity for myself, and am buying another as a gift for a friend.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not So Great, March 9, 2004
I was very excited to read and own this book, and sadly disappointed when it arrived. Unfortunately, the book is very generic in its interpretations, and doesn't offer informative insight and analysis. The definitions are very vague and the book is for parlor games more than for true dream interpretation. I also expected a bit more illustration, but there were hardly any of those either; just a few abstract drawings. However, the biggest failure of this book and the place where it earns an "F" across the board is with the indexing and alphabetizing of the dream symbols. The index is basically nonexistent, and the symbols are not arranged alphabetically. For instance, when I attempted to look up "Mother," it was actually found under "Family." Also, when I tried to look up "travel," it was listed under "places" - the listings are VERY VERY hard to find and when you do finally find them they aren't very good. I wouldn't recommend this book - it's not even good enough to have fun with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating book., January 8, 2001

Whenever I dream, all I need to do is look up the actions or things most prominent in the dream and find out how I'm feeling or something that's likely to happen. (It's usually right!) I got this as a gift set, and it came with a CD called "Dreams of Angels," which is a ten-track album of soothing instrumentals that help bring you dreams at night. It also came with a dream journal where you can record all about your dreams, and I use it every time I have a new one. This book is very interesting and useful, and also normally true.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun to read, October 5, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fun to read but I don't take the analysis too seriously. The alphabetical listings were a nice idea (rather than lengthy chapters), but they should have at least marked the page where each letter of the alphabet begins. Maybe I'll just insert little sticky-note tabs myself.

So what does it mean when you dream that your best girlfriend has a purple beard?? You'll know in about 5-10 minutes if you have this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good., June 14, 2004
A Kid's Review
This dream dictionary is pretty good. It has most general dreams in it, but of course some dreams are not in there. When you can find your dream, however, it is very helpful and quite interesting. However when you cannot it is frustrating and annoying. Overall it's a good thing to keep by your bed for when you wake up, but don't expect it to have everything.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weird Symbols are Included, October 1, 2000
By A Customer
I liked this dreambook alot, it was my first one that was reccomended to me by a friend. It covered many different things as strange as they were that occurred in my dream. For instance i had a weird dream about giraffes and i looked in other dream books and none of them had the meaning for giraffe but this one did. So if you have strange dreams like me sometimes, this book will come in handy.
