The Illustrated History of Canada is the only comprehensive, authoritative one-volume history of the nation. Seven of Canada's leading historians have contributed insightful essays and with hundreds of engravings, lithographs, cartoons, maps, posters, and photographs, The Illustrated History of Canada is a sweeping chronicle of Canada from its earliest times to yesterday's news.

The Illustrated History of Canada is a book about Canadians -- the story of how Canadians have lived and worked, how they have seen themselves, how they have thought about each other. Now fully updated to the millennium, this new edition covers the topics of concern to Canadians in varied communities across the country. Now, more than ever, The Illustrated History of Canada is a must reference for all Canadians interested in the history -- and the future of our country.

4.0 out of 5 stars History Made Relevant, August 1, 2000
By A Customer
In a single volume, this book presents a history of the Canada from 1534 to the 1980s in a readable, conversational style. The seven historians do an excellent job of intermixing facts with tidbits about everyday life and with insights into the minds of the times. Black-and-white illustrations help the reader see history and add a historical flavour to the book. I highly recommend this title to Canadians and Americans who want a better understanding of the Canadian mindset and to parents who want to accurately answer their children's questions about the past.
