Illustrated Olive Farm,
By
This review is from: The Illustrated Olive Farm: A Newly Written, Illustrated Companion to Her Bestselling Trilogy (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful Memoir of Carol Drinkwater and her husband and how they renovated their abandoned Olive Farm in Southern France. It is so very well written, and the illustrations and photo's in the book are excellent, I loved the book from beginning to the end, and I felt transported into their amazing adventure of renovations to the Olive Farm.
Truly it is a beautiful book.

This is the perfect companion to the Olive Farm trilogy which i have read and enjoyed. It was brilliant to finally be able to see the faces of the people i read about and came to care for. Beautiful photography and lyrical description which will enable one to feel as though they are there in the south of France and especially at Appassionata

I absolutely loved reading the Olive Farm, Olive Season and Olive Harvest and the Illustrated Olive Farm brought those books to life with all the beautiful pictures. As a Francophile, these books were very satisfying to my soul.

For those who dream of a life abroad,

This review is from: Olive Farm (Paperback)
I first listened to the audio version, which is read by Carol Drinkwater. This book is written in such an easy, comfortable way you feel as if you are having these experiences of a foreigner living in Provence. I loved this book and bought the rest of the series, The Olive Season, The Olive Harvest, and The Illustrated companion. These stories made me appreciate the process and love of olive oil; creating an olive oil snob in myself. I cannot wait till her journeys on The Olive Route are readily available in the U.S. If you loved the movie Under the Tuscan Sun, you will love these books. If you read Under the Tuscan Sun, it was a horrible book and you need to read the olive trilogy!

Wonderful,

I loved this book. After reading her previous three books this was like looking at a photo album of an old friend. I just hope she keeps writing, can't wait to see what's next.

I've read Carol Drinkwater's Olive trilogy and enjoyed it very much, so I was very pleased to come across this companion volume. Having read the three more detailed books already, I will admit I wasn't so much interested in the text because I already knew the story, but I was thrilled to see the pictures. It's a lot of fun to see what everybody looks like, and of course like every other reader of the series, I was really curious to see the farm. If the first books let us look into somebody's life, this one let us look into her home. Thanks for sharing.

I found this book on Kindle, thought it was worth a try and was immediately drawn in by this well-written account of finding and then falling in love with an old olive farm, forgotten and neglected for many years. Finished it, raced to the Kindle store to purchase the other books in this trilogy only to find out that the Olive Farm is the only one available on Kindle at this time. I am so disappointed. I loved the writing style it brought Carol Drinkwater's struggles and victories into my own life. Her love of her partner, her family, her farm and the animals who share their lives are heartwarming. Though I requested that the publisher offer the books on Kindle, I doubt I'll be able to wait and will end up buying the paperbacks instead. Anxious to immerse myself once again into life at Appassionata.

Olives and Acting - quite a combination,

I loved this book. The author demonstrated her prowess as a script writer in this action packed account of establishing a new home in a foreign country. Her passion Michel and her Olive Farm come across in every adventure. Highly Recommended.

The Illustrated Olive Farm is a great companion to Ms. Drinkwater's books regarding her olive farm. The pictures in the book make one long for what appears to be a simple life-style in the south of France. It's only when you read her other olive books does one realize just how hard one works to achieve that "simple life-syle". All of Ms. Drinkwater's books that I've read are a wonderful, engrossing read.

I have been watching the old "All Creatures Great and Small" episodes and decided to Google Carol Drinkwater's name to see what other movies/shows she's acted in (she played the original Helen Herriot in the 1st 3 seasons). I discovered that she is not only a superb actor, but also an accomplished author. When I started reading about her stories/memoirs about the olive farm she and Michel bought in France, I was intrigue, so I ordered the first book. I loved it. I had to order the 2nd book before I finished the 1st one so I could keep reading. Anyone who loves memoirs, travel logs, stories about following your dream, etc., will love these stories. Ms. Drinkwater is an excellent writer. She knows how to tell a story that keeps you entranced. Well done! If you've read Under the Tuscan Sun or Bella Tuscany, you owe it to yourself to read the Olive stories too. They will quickly become favorites.
If you enjoy stories about women taking their personal journeys, you might also read Driftwood |
