Product Description

On Sunday December 7th, 1941, 353 Japanese planes attacked the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The “Day of Infamy,” which left 2,389 Americans dead, began a savage war that ended with Japan’s surrender at Tokyo Bay in 1945. Featuring hundreds of maps, photos and diagrams, Illustrated Pearl Harbor Attack recreates the surprise attack in vivid pictures, showing each phase of the assault.

The book follows the action at the harbor, the air bases, the Naval Hospital, and Honolulu. From the early stages of Japanese planning through the destruction of Battleship Row to the remarkable salvage of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, the Illustrated Pearl Harbor Attack gives a front-row seat to the attack that brought the United States into World War II.

Newly updated with color maps and illustrations (available on color readers) and new historic photos, this special e-book release of Illustrated Pearl Harbor Attack is based on Larry Kimmett’s and Margaret Regis’ acclaimed book, The Attack on Pearl Harbor: An Illustrated History.

214 historic photos, drawings and maps, chronology, bibliography and complete index.

This review is from: Illustrated Pearl Harbor Attack (Kindle Edition)
In 2004 Larry Kimmett and Margaret Regis published the paperback "Attack on Pearl Harbor". Although modest in size, the book has built a solid reputation as an excellent introduction to America's "Day of Infamy".

The work is now available in electronic form as "Illustrated Pearl Harbor Attack", and the authors have made good use of the potentials of the new medium. The layout is deceptively simple, but the information is rich and dense, including over 200 historic photographs and numerous maps and diagrams. There are many Pearl Harbor books available, but for a thorough and factual account of what happened in Hawaii that day, as well as a useful summary of the historical context, this one is hard to beat.
