5.0 out of 5 stars The Illustrated Texas Dictionary of the English Language, May 31, 2006

In a word (or two): very funny! Author is not only funny in what he writes but the photos of him illustrating his Texas words are side-splitters. (Photos by Thaine Manske.) Get it, save it, enjoy it over and over again and if you live in Texas, share it with company when they visit. -- Dick Fitch, Kerrville, TX

3.0 out of 5 stars The Funny Side of How Non-Texans Think We Sound, February 9, 2001
By
Frank Herbert (Fort Worth, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This is an attempt to make fun of How Texans pronounce typical words by a Fellow Texan. Even a Texan will have trouble using these pronunciations and not laughing at himself. Fun and exciting. Good photography and facial expressions.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a Native Texan: Hilarious, January 30, 2011
This review is from: Illustrated Texas Dictionary of the English Language (Paperback)
This is a classic from a series that will always be funny.
I have an uncle (my mom's BIL) who talks a lot like this and she gave him one for Christmas one year.
He didn't see what was so funny about it, which made it even funnier to everyone else. Once when my mom was here visiting me and we were in the car about to go shopping, she was reading thru one of the dictionaries in this series with Jim Everhart's pictures. I was about to get out of the car in the driveway cause I'd forgotten something and she said (like this) "What soz shoe do you wear ?" I said "Seven"...and headed back in my house. When I got back to the car she was laughing and said "You nut !...I was reading that out of the Texas dictionary !" I started laughing, too and said "Oh, ..sorry!. I thought you were actually asking me that question !" We were both laughing.
My favorite from that series (I can't believe they aren't all here at amazon) was:
"Ain't chew aren't them thangs yet ?"
Aren't - ironed.
LOL
