This review is from: Illustrating Nature: How to Paint and Draw Plants and Animals (Dover Art Instruction) (Paperback)
A good overview of drawing from nature. Dorothea and Sy Barlowe were well known professional botanical and animal illustrators. Good for teaching late elementary and middle school students botanical and animal drawing. It is good the illustrations are not over simplified so much the drawings are weakened, which happens a lot is drawing books done for children. The Barlowes have a very good grasp of animal anatomy. Dortheas botanical renderings are especially wonderful.Though this book is not specifically for children I am using it to teach drawing to children. I would recommend it for ages 7.5 to 100 years.
