i have any number of wonderful books, and decades of wonderful magazines, on quilting. one magazine has printed wonderful articles for any number of mathamatical changes to block size, amounts needed, etc. but i'd have to have a truly massive data base to easily find all this incredibly useful information.

so, i bought the all-in-one quilters reference tool. it's the answer to my prayer. practically every question a quilter could ask about technical matters in making a quilt is here--and answered. want to enlarge a clock, it's there. want to know how many sashing strips--it's there. yardage questions, cutting questions, sewing questions, all there and answered. there are tables comparing battings, recommending thread and needle size combinations, use for needle types, diagonal measurements for squares.

this is a treasure every quilter could use. if you've been envious of the knitter's, crocheter's and weaver's quides another publishing house puts out, this is your solution.

and it's comb bound so you can flatten it out while you cut your blocks. perfect! and the pages are sturdy, so they will last a long time and take a lot of frantic turning without tearing. and the illustratons are very good, too.

I have owned this book for appoximately 4 months and during that time, it has not only saved my brain from the somewhat challenging calculations involved in quilting, but has helped many others shopping in fabric stores while I am there. I have shared this book with others while shopping (quilters tend to wonder aloud, hoping that someone is there to help) - and there I am with the perfect answers in this great book.

The book fits perfectly into my purse, and I NEVER leave it home. Benefits of this book have been listed in other reviews, but the one addition that I would like to note is the reference page that has standard sizes for mattresses, bedspreads, quilts, comforters, quilts with a pillow tuck, etc. This page has been used many many many times!

The information and layout found in this book far exceeds Quilter's Quick Reference Guide (That Patchwork Place), which I purchased first. Please do not waist your money on the Quilter's Quick Reference Guide. It is far to cryptic, and does not have the answers you need.

If you are a quilter, especially one that likes to create their own designs or change dimensions of projects, the All-In-One Quilter's Reference Tool IS THE BOOK for you!

Quilting requires that you oil-up your rusty math skills. If I want to expand this twin-size quilt to full-size, how many more blocks will I need? If I buy these cute 5" batik panels and I want to surround them with triangles, how big should I make the initial square? It's all too much for me, because I turn to quilting at the end of the day, when I want to turn OFF my analysis-mode.

This isn't an exciting little book, but it's a useful one. I guess it's the quilter's equivalent to the tables in the back of a good introductory cookbook, the ones that tell you how many tablespoons there are in a cup. You certainly won't get enthusiastic about it, but you'll be glad to have the reference when you need it! Need to figure out how much yardage you'll need for binding? Trying to figure out how many sashings you'll need for a quilt with 24 blocks? It's all in here.

Don't, however, assume that this little reference guide will teach you quilting basics. It's definitely a book of tables and charts, rather than an instruction manual. Yet, I think it's an inevitable -- and thankfully inexpensive -- book for you to have somewhere near your sewing machine.

This little book has terrific information in an easy to follow format. Wire binding keeps the book flat and stiff pages stay put. I find myself using it for quilt planning, modifying, and finishing. A must have for any beginning or intermediate quilter.

Where have you been all my life? All the measurements you'll ever need in one tiny little book. Beautifully organized with a good table of contents and color coding, printed on heavy paper so it'll hold up to a lifetime of thumbing through, and spiral bound so it lays flat. Perfection.
