5.0 out of 5 stars Good book if you already know Illustrator, June 7, 2004
This review is from: Illustrator CS Most Wanted: Techniques and Effects (Paperback)
This book gets started immediately with tutorials so you have to know your way around Illustrator basics before starting with this book. Once I did get started though, there is so much material crammed into this book to work through, it's going to take me a while. There is wide range of tutorials on specific projets, not just the new tools in cs, and three large advanced projects at the end of the book. I'm learning how to create great images and how to use the new cs features as I work through. Another plus is the author supporting the book and every source file for the tutorials is downloadable.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent old find but still has some magic to it., May 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Illustrator CS Most Wanted: Techniques and Effects (Paperback)
I bought this book awhile back and never got around to reviewing it but I got to tell ya it might be one of his older books he published but it still has a lot of tricks excuse me, lots of techniques(tricks makes it sound like a magic show) no magic here just straight up simple to learn but effective techniques in Adobe Illustrator. Which you can still implement in your day-to-day workflow. I liked it, it's a book you can just jot thru when you're bored or when you just want to learn some new (pun intended) "tricks". Another book well worth the money but if you need to be up to par on things this book is not for you, it isn't as cutting edge as his latest books but it is helpful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but didn't inspire me, June 6, 2004
This review is from: Illustrator CS Most Wanted: Techniques and Effects (Paperback)
This book jumped right in with tutorials, which was fine with me since I wasn't looking for a "learn Illustrator" book. Many of the tutorials were pretty good, but there wasn't quite as much variety as I would have liked. I guess I was hoping for a few more projects that would "inspire" me and get me going with new ideas.
Friends of Ed continue to bring out books that are full of promise but don't quite live up to my expectations.
Still, it's not bad and I hope Matt writes more books and "lets go" even more with cool ideas.
