If you are looking for an efficient way to learn complex software like illustrator then I can recommend the Lynda.com DVD with Deke McClelland. You can work at your own pace, no need to travel to a class room, you can work along with Deke with the exercise files included with the video. No book. Only DVD.
I thought this was a book and DVD like all the other series of One-on-One by this author. Since I have other series from this author I wanted to try this one as well. I ordered it and did not realize until I got it that it was just a CD in a case. That's it. NO BOOK. For $150.00 I feel there should be an accompanying book so I am returning the CD. I can't rate the actual...

I thought this was a book and DVD like all the other series of One-on-One by this author. Since I have other series from this author I wanted to try this one as well. I ordered it and did not realize until I got it that it was just a CD in a case. That's it. NO BOOK. For $150.00 I feel there should be an accompanying book so I am returning the CD. I can't rate the actual product since I did not open it, but wanted to warn others about what you get for your money on this one.
