Great Choice for Learning the Basics of Illustrator, October 28, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Illustrator Type Magic (Paperback)
As with the rest of the "Magic" series of graphic program books by Hayden, "Illustrator Type Magic" makes it easy to learn some great effects and features while creating something fun.
The book is laid out showing various effects, and each effect is then broken out in a step-by-step format. Choose the specific type effect that suits your need or mood, and follow the directions to create it; Forget that you're "secretly" learning new commands and capabilities of the program...It's just a good time to you! For the totally inexperienced user, the beginning of the book features an absolutley barebones/basic guide to bring you up to speed quickly.
Though not recommended as something that will make seasoned Ilustrator professionals jump for joy, this book will give the new and/or casual user a good introduction to many of the effects, filters, and features which lie beneath the program's serious exterior.
