I couldn't believe that such a thing even existed! This one-off album by Hungarian-born Italian sex goddess/politician Ilona Staller (aka Cicciolina) was originally released in 1979 on RCA Italiana and remastered by Castle Music in 2000, but was deleted almost as soon as it was released, so it's (once again) become a bit of a rarity...

There are some pleasant camp gems on this album. Most of the songs are in Italian, but there are a few in English. One of them being "I Was Made For Dancin'" which was originally done by the illustrious (ha!) Leif Garrett. Another one being "Benihana" (which originally done by another porn star, the famed Marilyn Chambers). She also does a cover version of "Save The Last Dance For Me" in both English and Italian. There is also a rock-tringed number called "Professor Of Percussions", which is just plain strange...There are also some nice, pleasant songs like "Labbra", "Cavallina Cavallo" (written by famed Italian film composer Ennio Morricone) and the last track "Piu' Su Sempre Piu' Su".. I wish I knew what some of these titles meant (some of those babelfish translations make no sense whatsoever).

"Cicciolina" certainly doesn't possess a powerful voice by any stretch... But like any good sex-kitten, purrs, coos and moans her way through many of these selections...Her thick Italian accent on the English songs are particularly endearing.. Overall it's a very well-done reissue. The linernotes offer a good biography and the digital remastering is superb! There are also a couple of bonus tracks.. The disco mixes of "Save The Last Dance For Me" and "I Was Made For Dancin'".. Musically it's good, but it's no classic. It's nothing more than a late 70s euro-trash camp treasure.. I suppose in that context it's a classic.. "Camp collectors" will surely eat this one up.. 3.5 stars.
