From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD

The Wild Magnolias are a traditional New Orleans "Indian" tribe featuring only vocals and percussion. Joined here by among others the potent New Rebirth Brass Band, the Magnolias provide a jumping, pulsating example of Mardi Gras celebration. Fantastic rhythms from a fantastic band.Sometimes I think I am at Congo Square, listening to this Indian sound. Here in Greece we have fun too, at Carnival time, but this one is something else.
