Magnificent,

Words fail to describe this collection, no doubt one of Airto's finest (the world's best percussionist, in case you don't know). Raw, wild, refined, tender. Unlike anything else I've heard. The unrestrained passion (or is it madness?) of Ruben Rada's vocal on Meni Devol is unbelievable. Celebration Suite will lift your spirits and your feet from the floor. Remarkable stuff, and thank the stars it's available on CD now.

This is the first Airto album i was pleased to listen to and it made a change in the way i used to listen to music, one of the greatest fusion albums in the seventies. A great and necessary item to have if you really like music.

I saw Airto many times performing live in the San Francisco area in the time period of this albums release. This album came very close to the intense energy of the band live at that time. The inclusion of Hugo Fattoruso, the incredible Ruben Rada, and Raul De Souza make this album along with the long out of print "Promises of the Sun", by far the greatest moments of Airto's recording career. With all due respect to the "Fingers" album, these two have always been my favorites. Sadly we have yet to and may never see the release of the "Promisses of the Sun" on CD. Should it ever re-emerge. Race to buy it as well, Toninho Horta's guitar solos alone make it worth seeking out.

Simply The Greatest,

This album is my favorite of Airto's. Let's face it, he is one of the greatest percussionists of all recorded artists. In addition to winning numerous Downbeat awards as best percusionists, he was even the guest artist on the PBS Boston Pops tv show. He is an "Indian" Brazilian and thus uses a large variety of percussion instruments. Although he uses electronic instruments, his incredible talent with native Brazilian percussion instruments is an fascinating listening experience. I saw him live in Kansas City and while playing a drum set he also simultaniously plys other devices. He is a rhythmic Zwengali.
