I am surprised that Melvin never gained more fame... the man can groove... anything by him is incredible, buy it... one of my favorite guitar players, right up there with Grant Green...

Not only is Melvin Sparks an incredible Guitarist, but he is one of the founding Fathers of Acid Jazz Guitar. He has recorded over 100 albums that defines the genre. His song "Sparkling" is one of my personal favorvites on this cd and should be a hit. His sense of melody and harmony is unique and he plays with lots of fire and soul. Melvin is MUST listening for all young aspiring guitarist. Here in NYC, I've seen him hand guitarist their heads on the platter!!! This is definately worth the price of admission!

Fantastic guitar player in the sense of vitality and energy that radiates from this sound. They call it acid jazz, but for all I know this is just great music. Maybe you have to be under influence a little to appreciate the freedom and spaciness of Melvin Sparks' groove.
