Review

" Every child has a right to unconditional love. Dignity and respect, for self and others, can be fully recognized when children are aware that they are unconditionally loved. As adults we can never do to much to ensure that ours is a kind, supportive, uplifting and encouraging community for all children and their families. I encourage families and friends to share I'm Glad I'm Me with all children and adults whom they encounter." --Sherea A. McKenzie

"I can imagine the powerful effect when parents read this book aloud to their child. What a beautiful gift to both of them." --Rabbi Samuel E. Karff

"Victor Hugo wrote that 'the greatist happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved, loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.' This precious little book lays out a blueprint for happiness filled with loving words and loving actions. Each page is a treasure map: follow it and you will be 'glad you are you.' I recommed this book to be a gift of love to all, Love must be learned!!!" --Lidya K. Osadchey

"I'm Glad I'm Me" is a precious find. Reading the book with a child offers so many opportunities for saying I Love You, building that loving bond and helping to develop self esteem. As a Grandmother of four I am anxious to sit down with each child to read and discuss this treasure. It is heart breaking to imagine all of the missed opportunities we have every day to share these simple words. This is a must read for everyone. Thank you for a wonderful addition to my library

I bought this for my granddaughter simply because it is such a beautiful book. I quickly discovered its profound value. It teaches us to talk love - and makes us comfortable doing so. In our hectic world communication is too often strident, critical, loud, impatient, and exasperated. "I'm Glad I'm Me" gives us the words we want to say, prefer to say, but are too exhausted and overwhelmed to say without prompting.

How much more helpful will this book be to families who have never experienced such nurturing words! Here is a way to discover them. Here, in one appealing little book, is the foundation of happiness.

As a former professor in the field of Early Childhood I used to teach that if children feel that they are loved and respected then they think well of themselves, they interact better with others and are more successful in academic achievement. The question is: how to convey and convince children that they are loved. Often parents and caregivers are too busy with the minutae of everyday life to take time to actively and audibly tell the child of their love. Sometimes children hear the harsh words of criticism and command but never the soft words of love.

This invaluable little book, I'm Glad I'm Me, helps to solve that problem. Written and illustrated in a simple and clear way, the book can be read TO a child or read By a 1st grade level reader. There is an opportunity for the adult to read one part and the child to read the response. Simple, reassuring, positive...it has a cadence similar that of Goodnight Moon.

A book about love--- that defines love both for children and adults---now that that is something to recommend. This is an excellent gift for new parents and for teachers of preschool age children.

This book was purchased as a gift for our young cousins who have a four year old precious, smart, precocious girl and their 18 month old bruiser of a boy. Recognizing the bright, creative minds of this family, it was given knowing they would appreciate it's content and illustrations. There was no hesitation in sending this to them as a "no reason other than we like you " gift.
This book is filled with entertainment, fun, and sensitive messages to be shared with children, parents and grandparetns. It is not only a message for young families, but, one which should be addressed with older established families. One should never be so comfortable with one another, so assuming of one another, or so old as to stop saying how much one loves, appreciates, and accepts their family members.
Bravo to Sheila Aron for offering a concise, gentle message of love and togetherness.
A must have for your library to be read often, and cherished.

I work with the young and ones that have been scarred for life by their loved ones. As I read I'm Glad I'm Me I could see how each page can have an impact in a child who hears the lines of this book read out loud. Nowadays children don't hear enough that they are loved and why they are important. This book can send a message straight to a child's heart when it's read with love because the message has a life effect on a child's heart and development. It teaches them that no matter what they are loved and who they are makes them be loved. This book should be translated to Spanish because it's exceptional.
