4.0 out of 5 stars watch out for the price.
I actaualy got this cd at a new and use music store for only [a few bucks] new! it's the smae exact one here, which i was going to buy but then i saw the price at that music store.
it's worth my money plus more but i do wish the cd would have had more than it does, i exected it to be a fully remix song like other Jlo (maxi) singles. but o-well this may not be one...

2.0 out of 5 stars J.Lo in creative decline
J.lo's recent work has shown a steady, creative decline. Her latest album was bland and un-inspired. And formulaic in that J.Lo sings the hook over a sampled beat, and brings in a few guest rappers for the remix.

I actaualy got this cd at a new and use music store for only [a few bucks] new! it's the smae exact one here, which i was going to buy but then i saw the price at that music store.
it's worth my money plus more but i do wish the cd would have had more than it does, i exected it to be a fully remix song like other Jlo (maxi) singles. but o-well this may not be one of those singles but it's still good. this cd has five tracks
<track>
one. IM GONNA BE ALRIGHT,feat.NAS-like the song one the video

two. IM GONNA BE ALRIGHT,jlo alone -same as first but with no
rap, this is more like the orignal but with the "new" beat. you
may have heard this version on the radio.also is longer.
three. IM GONNA BE ALRIGHT,instumental- this is just the beat.
Four. Alive, -remixed.
five. Alive,- remixed.

The orignal verson is not on her from the album JLO nor is the verson from J to the L-O!(the remixes). the one from JLo is the orignal with the almost latin beat and the one on J to the L-o! (the remixes) is the one with the new beat but with a different rap with a differnt rapper.

Alive sounds good on both tracks, to me they sound alike. AM GONNA BE ALRIGHT, i wish they'd remix like on maxi singles on a part II cd to this song because you only get the commonly used beat that also P.Diddy is on his album FEVER. the beat has been sampled before also but that's ok it's a good song, infact the whole cd is good.
But don't be disapointed if you don't heard AM GONNA BE ALRIGHT with club beat remixed. I guess thay just didn't put it in this cd because it is already "remixed"

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Single....Hot Song, August 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: I'm Gonna Be Alright / Alive (Audio CD)
THe second single off her tight "J to tha LO! the remixes!" cd....this was a good track when the original appereard in "J.Lo" the album....now with the two different rappers on the Trackmaster's remix of this song, the song is EVEN BETTER!!
i LOVE the bassy beat to this track, that's why i especially love the instrumental to this song. It's one of those classic beats that will continue to be used forever on....

Alive was an average song off her remix cd...the song wasnt bad, it's just that i expected a little bit more from her when it came from singing this song...now with the Thunderpuss remix and the last remix on this song...i LOVE the song even more...I like how they made a slow track into a danceable, yet slow song...THUNDERPUSS AND TRACKMASTERS DID A GREAT JOB WHEN IT CAME TO REMIXING I'M GONNA BE ALRIGHT AND ALIVE....5 ***** FOR THIS COMBO SINGLE!!!
bUY IT IF you like the songs...u'll love the cd single**********

5.0 out of 5 stars Two remixes from J-Lo., September 18, 2002
By
This review is from: I'm Gonna Be Alright / Alive (Audio CD)
This cd single features the Track Masters Mix with Nas that was not on her remix collection. The first track is the Nas featured track and is only 2:51. The next two Track Masters are Jennifer only in track 2 (3:14) similar to the original with no rap and track 3 (3:14) and instrumental. Quite good if you like Diva Jeep music. The real find for I guess everyone who bought this is the Thunderpuss mixes for the ballad from her movie Enough. This features some of the best vocals from Jennifer in her short career. The original in its "Theme From Mahogany" type style of ballardary gets turned into a fierce independent statement in remix form . The Club Mix (8:51) is pure Thunderpuss in that it hits you over the head and never stops in it's energy level. But for me the Tribe-a-pella mix(7:50) is more pulled back in style and to me works even better to showcase the urgency in both the lyrics and vocal performance. "Alive" recently topped Billboard's Top 12"/Maxi singles sales chart and peaked at number 2 on their club play chart. Excellent mixes and song to match.

2.0 out of 5 stars J.Lo in creative decline, June 17, 2003

This review is from: I'm Gonna Be Alright / Alive (Audio CD)
J.lo's recent work has shown a steady, creative decline. Her latest album was bland and un-inspired. And formulaic in that J.Lo sings the hook over a sampled beat, and brings in a few guest rappers for the remix.

J.Lo's debut album, On the 6, Was a solid effort and sounded fresh. The tracks with guest rappers sounded interesting.

The afforementioned decline began with her second album, Where the majority of boardwork was helmed by love-him-or-hate-him P.Diddy, it had a few great moments but was sub-par overall.

"I'm gonna be alright" continues this streak. The simple lyrics lag on, and the music was built around a Club Nouveau sample, and "I'm gonna be alright" makes uncreative use of it. The Luniz sample of the hook was superior.

J.Lo gets a little help from her friends, rappers 50 Cent and Nas, they're presence doesn't help at all. Although the latter is up on his history, mentioning Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe.

This single is nothing special.

I love Jennifer Lopez. She is so hot. I love this whole CD. The remixes to 'Alive' are especially good. I'm gonna be alright is one of the biggest and greatest songs of the summer of 2002. It deserves this title because it is so awesome, and gets me dancin. This CD is as good as all her other CD's, and they are all great!

Do not buy this single if you are looking for the ballad version of Alive. Silly me, I must have missed when it was clearly stated that the version here was an uptempo one when I ordered it from Amazon, and only got suspicious when the CD arrived and I looked at the back. I'm not a great fan of J-Lo's singing but I do like the ballad version of Alive. However, there is no way I will be buying the remixes CD- what was she thinking putting a ballad on that CD! I guess I will have to enjoy it on radio.

3.0 out of 5 stars Original Version Is Actually Better, August 3, 2003
By
This review is from: I'm Gonna Be Alright / Alive (Audio CD)
I was kinda disappointed by the remixed "I'm Gonna Be Alright." The original album version on "J Lo" is acrually much better and the superior version. That version is upbeat, fun, and has a great production. Avoid the remixed version. The B-side "Alive" is a cute ballad but reminds me a lot of Janet Jackson's "Again." If you like "I'm Gonna Be Alright," go for the "J Lo" album. That version is the best.

Not only is the chorus catchy but it also features rapper Nas. The only bone I have to pick with this disc is there is no version featuring 50 cent to be found. I found that version online and it's nowhere! Anyways, this single includes an intstrumental (without lyrics) version and two killer remixes of "Alive." I don't know why the Thunderpuss remix wasn't on "J-to-tha LO!" cause it rocks! Overall I'd reccomend this single, but for those of you who want the 50 cent version continue looking elsewhere :( A+
