Biography

Clifton Chenier was the undisputed King of Zydeco music. By mixing Cajun and French two-steps and waltzes with blues, R&B and rock and roll, he created the infectious sound of modern zydeco. Chenier was famous for his flashy onstage gear of cape and crown (and natty gold tooth), but it was his creation of joyful, exuberant and highly danceable zydeco music that made him a ... Review

The late zydeco man always remains present in the mind of anyone touched by the Fais-Do-Do sounds emanating from Louisiana's French Triangle. At a 1982 record date Chenier and his sweaty outfit fill an imaginary dance floor. Note how his blues accordion has the harmonic density of the entire Glenn Miller Orchestra on "In the Mood." -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 -- From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD

My tastes run from rock to pop to jazz to blues to soul to classical. This album and genre could fit into several of the aforementioned categories and it's performed by one of the greatest zydeco artists. I was somewhat familiar with Chenier's work on Paul Simon "Graceland" album. I enjoyed every cut on this album and Chenier's version of "In The Mood" cut is certainly different but very appealing. A great compilation.
