Book Description

May 9, 2005
"Cows from Outer Space." "Why I Ate My Husband." "Jesus Returns, and the Christians Think He's Nuts." These and other pieces of unintentional genius from the demented mind of Richard Scott complete this collection of hilarious short stories and idiotic comedy bits. Scott's comedy ranges from the highbrow "Toilet Humour" to the historical docu-drama, "I Heard the President Fart." From the absurd "Toast Hunters of the Amazon," to the surreal "My Father the Android," to the farcical "Dances Like Jew," to the ridiculous "The Adventures of Superman's Pants," I'm an Idiot, You're an Idiot is guaranteed to make readers laugh like the idiots we all are. Read what the critics say! "It's not the worst thing I've read."-Rachel Scott, mother "Needs more pictures to color."-George W. Bush "LOL!! :-))))) WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?"-random Internet blogger "Did he spell his name right?"-Arthur Scott, father "Hey, buddy, I don't take personal checks."-Mistress Dominix

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Richard Scott is a contributor to alternative news publications in Duluth, MN, including the Reader Weekly, which carries his cartoons, After Life and Lucifer for Congress. In 2000, his first book, Billy Joel: All About Soul, became a national phenomenon, selling literally dozens of copies. His second book, I Hate Bush and So Do You, was published in 2003 under the ridiculous pen name "Jason Johnson" in order to prevent his arrest under the Patriot Act. It worked: Scott is currently not in prison, living safely in his parents'' basement, where he repeatedly assures the world that he is single by choice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Author's Comment, May 18, 2005
This review is from: I'm An Idiot, You're An Idiot (Paperback)
Yes, I am the author, and I know it seems tacky to review my own book (I tried to give it as "neutral" a review as possible); but Amazon has done away with its "Author's Comment" section, and I wanted to let customers know something about me and my work.

Thia is a collection of comedic short stories and sketches--not just "humour," but flat-out comedies. These include stories such as "Dances Like Jew," "Cows from Outer Space," "Toast Hunters of the Amazon," "Why I Ate My Husband," "Worst Campfire Story Ever," "The Penis That F***ed Toledo," and a personal favourite, "Jesus Returns, and the Christians Think He's Nuts."

Of course, it's difficult to predict who will find what funny. But to give you an idea of my own tastes, I can tell you my influences. Like most writers born after 1969, I was heavily influenced by Monty Python, and by the sketch comedy of Sat. Night Live (but just the good stuff--nothing by Molly Shannon). John Lennon's early books ("Spanner in the Works," "In His Own Write") had a major impact on me, as did Steve Martin's "Cruel Shoes" and "Pure Drivel." I think some of my works also reflect my admiration for Woody Allen's early, funnier stuff.

I believe that if you love comedy, you will find at least a few laughs somewhere in these pages. I try to appeal to a broad range of comedic tastes: I love satires as well as farces; British understatement as well as American balls-to-the-crotch humour; dialogue- and character-driven pieces. I sincerely hope you enjoy this book, and that I make a lot of money from it. But mostly that you like it.
