Our son loves to cook. He also loves Garfield. He is living away from home during his college break, and, being an ever concerned mother, when I saw this book I thought what a great book to send to our son for his summer fun, and it could be a great survival book. I picked it up out of a sense of fun and mother's happiness, and, to my delight, I found a serious cook book lay deliciously hidden beneath the cover. Ahh, "Decadent Roasted Blue Chees Potatoes," "Magnifico Mushroom Risotto," "Beat Me. Whip Me. Make Me Eat Rosemary Scalloped Potatoes," ah yes, like the great Native American Tradition, this is a book for the Heyokas out there, and the jesters. It is cooking with heart, with fun, and what fellow or gal with a great sense of humor and a great palate wouldn't just love the greatness of this hidden treasure book of fun and food.

Of course, there is ever-practical advice, such as Garfied's Fine Dining Faux Pas (Lord only knows who your child might be dating, and they can kindly leave this page open so that the "would-be date" will not embarrass your child while dining in a fine establishment). Thus, the advice, and this is just one of many, that one should not gargle with your aperitif, could simply be one of many saving graces.

I highly recommend this book. I readily admit I have kept the copy I bought for our son, and ordered many more for the rest of our children so that after a hard day, they may laugh and cook and be oh so glad to have an outrageous mother who has taught them love, laughter, and fine dining make for a happier day.

I adore Garfield. He makes me laugh out loud. Garfield adores food. He is foodie extraordinaire! This tubby tabby is an expert on lasagna, laughter, and mastering his hapless master. With lots of humor from Garfield and his creator Jim Davis, and dozens of wonderful recipes from Barbara Albright, this cookbook is good enough to eat!

I love exploring cookbooks. In fact, I read them more than I use them, but smelling the wonderful "Mom's 'Love Means Never Having to Say You're Hungry'" meatloaf baking, I actually got on Amazon to look for other Barbara Albright cookbooks to buy! (My family never liked meatloaf until Garfield's!) Another whiff convinced me that I just have to say what a great cookbook this is. Aside from the clever names, the recipes sound somewhat ordinary and basic but are extraordinarily delicious without a lot of fuss and bother. (The Smokey-Mustard Green Beans are AMAZING!!)

I gave the book to my daughter to inspire some cooking adventures. At 15, she had a great, tasty first experience with the "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Pasta Salad" recipe which motivated her to explore more recipes and re-make her favorites. By her admission, there isn't a recipe yet that she hasn't loved, and I love the down-to-earth variety and quality - let alone that it's just a FUN cookbook!

After trying these recipes, I would buy another Barbara Albright cookbook without hesitation.

Whenever the chance strikes, i use this wonderful cook book, of course since it was a gift to my sister I have to borrow it...hahahaha, should have bought one for myself!
The cooking is so easy one can cook with kids or even cooking challenged spouses!
either way, you will find a love for cooking and the kitchen after enjoying the recipes in this book, also it has recipes that can be used for holidays and for susbtituting the same "old boring" dishes!

The Garfield, I'm in the mood for food was a purr-fect cookbook for my kids. They love to help out, and it got them to try some new things. They loved it, and it was easy to follow. Great for any Garfield lover or aspiring kid chef.
