One Of Cliff's Best Records!,

If you know Cliff and like him, But have never heard this album, Your missing one of the better one's. Originally released in 1980, This is now been re-released after many years. Actually, I've never seen it on CD in the U.S. I have tried to get this CD on auction sites and seen it go for [price] or more. Even in Britian where Cliff is much more popular than here, It's still been an all time fan's favorite. I'm not going to list and praise all the songs here for you, they are all great. If you are a fan of Cliff's buy it! No more need's to be said. It may not be around again for a long time. I myself have waited over 15 years to get it on CD.

I've never heard a better album by Cliff than this one. A few years ago I started looking for it on CD, but was told it was out of print, and felt very disappointed. So when I saw that it has been re-released, I just had to have it. Please get this one--it's a classic!

Sir Cliff Richard originally release this album the dawn of the 80's, and it was one of his four big comeback albums, the others being "I'm Nearly Famous" (my favorite), "Rock and Roll Juvenile," and "Wired for Sound." Cliff should have had a much better reception on this side of the Atlantic, but having these classics FINALLY on CD is great news for followers of this one of a kind vocalist. This is more up-tempo than some of the others, but producer Alan Tarney capitalized on catchy hooks, good beats and great songs! A Great addition to fans of the 70s and 80s.

A terrific pop album. Even the title, "I'm No Hero" is catchy. There is no better pop album for the 1980 era. EMI Records and all concerned are to be heartily approbated for finally coming to terms and releasing this fine album. This CD will knock you out! Not necessarily with the knock-kneed Sir Richard on the cover but with the music. What a voice! Crystal clear vocals yet how this Knight rocks! 45min and 23 seconds of sheer unadulterated pleasure will consume you with the times. This CD features two cuts I have never heard before--and they are D-Y-N-A-M-I-T-E!!! (one is so 'aptly' named). Have fun! A must have!

One of Cliff's best albums and that's saying a lot! Throughout this album, Cliff and songwriter/producer Alan Tarney capitalize on gorgeous hooks, fantastic mixes - a superb blend of guitar and synthesizer - and brilliant songs! Cliff sustains throughout rich, creamy, aching vocals - powerful, lingering, perfectly rounded high-pitched and intense. Cliff sounds so lush when he sings high. Zestful, exuberant and intense, Cliff varies from vibrant ("Give A Little Bit More") to lush and gorgeous ("A Little In Love", "Here (So Doggone Blue)" to aching and passionnate ("Dreamin'", "Anything That I Can Do") to heart-wrenching ("A Heart Will Break"...Cliff sounds gruff and husky in this one...wonderful) and even haunting ("In The Night", "Everyman"- you won't believe the fabulous groaning and wailing noises he makes in this one....oooooh. The title track, "I'm No Hero" is just a stunner with strong hits of rock and roll/rockabilly - a real classic. The vocal quality Cliff sustains throughout this album is utterly staggering. You just don't find the harsh sounds and poor-quality notes that often blight the songs of today's chart artists. NO! This is consistent! AND...all the instrumentalists are classy. Alan Tarney (who basically wrote practically all of this) really could get the most out of Cliff vocally. The bonus tracks are also stunning. Although purists might not see the re-working of 1959 R&R classic "Dynamite" with a very synthy eighties sound, that voice is so oily and sensual it could make you want to swoon. "Keep On Looking", has the same perfect, sophisticated, catchy high-pitched sound. Buy this and see for yourself just HOW good Cliff is and if you get the chance, go and see him live as he is utterly sensational!

A Well Crafted Pop Masterpeice,

I listen to a wide spectrum of music and have always been at least marginally acquainted with Cliff Richard over the years. After finding "I'm No Hero" 'somewhere', I must say this whole album is excellent. The production on this is crisp and clear and everything is done to pop perfection...which is a very good thing. It's no wonder that he's considered "The British Elvis" as he has the requisite charisma and vocal ability to pull everything off. For a record that was released more than 30 years ago as of this posting, the whole affair still stands up very nicely to the test of time.Practically every song on this is excellent. My personal favorites are the title track {"I'm No Hero"}, "Anything I Can Do", "Take Another Look", "A Heart Will Break", "Everyman", and the "hits" "Dreamin'", "A Little In Love" and 'near miss' hit, "Give A Little Bit More". Good stuff...all of these songs get frequent rotation on my personal playlist.

Outside of "it so funny" and 'dreamin" this cd is full of songs close to those hits that have that same 80's quality to them. a solid cd throughout it also includes his hit "a little in love".Although I would consider "its so funny" and "dreamin" his best 80's songs, i would consider this cd his best 80's cd because it is full of songs that should have been hits.If you have cliffs greatest hits you have to buy this cd to get the rest of his great songs that are not on the greatest hits because they just didnt chart.

Cliff Richard might not have been in the ring in real life but his voice could fight off competitors. His musical talent really shines on this album. For years it was only available as an expensive import. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to purchase this one with two bonus tracks. From the liner notes, it appears the bonus tracks were released on the UK version's back side of the singles, Dreamin and A Little in Love. This became Cliff's biggest selling album ever in 1980. The remastering isn't perfect there is a little hiss but overall clean.
