5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone is P!nk on the Inside, April 9, 2006
By
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
Pink's new CD, "I'm Not Dead," is her best album to date. With having left L.A. Reid she is now on her own, and sounding better than ever. We here some typical hardcore Pink, and a tender, more soft Pink as well. She has great rock influenced song such as 'Stupid Girls,' 'U+Ur Hand,' and ''Cuz I Can.' But Pinks slow songs a just as powerful and I feel that one of those, 'I Have Seen the Rain' (featuring her father), is the best track on the album. An excellent buy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album Yet, April 4, 2006

This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
Pink's new album "I'm Not Dead" is her best yet! 5/5 stars. With hits such as "U + Ur Hand," "Cuz I Can," "Who Knew," her open letter to President Bush "Dear Mr President," and the smash hit "Stupid Girls." She's combined new beats with fresh new lyrics, that anyone could relate to. This item is a definite buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready,steady,go . Full steam ahead !, April 12, 2006
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
This is the real thing. Raw,unpolished, and full of gut`s and rock& roll soul all trough this disc. It kicks off with Track 1 Stupid Girl, which realy makes sence. It has something to say to all of us when it come`s to our tabloid society and thing`s that just polish the "outside" with no thought for the brain and soul inside which should matter. The rythmic soundpicture is very effective, and the beat is dancable. A hit this one is. Funk and postmodern punk makes the song quite a gem. Track 2 Who knew is a melodious song, with simple guitar plink and plunk. Pink`s voice is very in control on this one. There are a certain "sexy" rawness in here voice which to sum it up "realy makes it". Track 3 Long way to happy, is more in the experimental sence of rock music, but when it explodes later on, it bring`s you into some kind of "metal headbangin`mood". She`s quite raw on this one, and the style realy fit`s here. Track 4 Nobody knows is the "slow song", where she sing`s like she realy means it. It`s very simpel in it`s balladform, and most of the time it works quite well. Track 5 Dear Mr President, has a very open soundpicture with it`s very effective simpelness all trough. Pinks pain mixed with here rawness in here voice is a hybrid which are very solid. This is a straigt to the point critic of President Bush and is quite good storytelling which say`s the most in a simpel way. Poetic justice in other words. Track 6 I`m not Dead, is the song wich she "mumbel sings" in a way. And that`s in Pink`s case a quality mark. She spits out the word`s anyway, and it doesn`t matter if here voice is not so much expressive on this one, but it hit`s you anyway. Track 7 Cuz i Can, is a homeage to the glam rock from the 70ths. It`s glam, bang, halleluja rock and roll all trough. Track 8 Leave Me Home( Im Lonley) sound`s like U2 goes Blondie in a way. It`s the kind of song that grips you at once, and does not let you go. Here Pink`s voice sounds simpel and straightforward. The rawness is gone, and this is very girlish in a way. Track 9 U+Ur hand is more in the "honky tonk country" in the begining before it smash into raw power rock and roll. Track 10 Runaway is another slow song that stand`s out as something else. This one after the prelude goes over to more light heavy metal, and here it works well, but nothing special. Track 11 The one that got way, is simpel guitar finger picking blues with Pink`s quality roar singin all trough. Track 11 I got money spark`s not to much, and it`s the weak one on this CD, sorry to say. Track 13 Conversation with my 13 year old self, is a fine ballad .

This is a dual disc, and you get a DVD side too (at least in the European version) with the entire album once again, photos, backstage, stupid girls video, etc). Probably you get most of it on the US version to (plus and minus). At least it`s a dualdisc, and i was quite surprised of all the extra material you get for the money. A good treat for every Pink fan. Pink rules !. Ready, steady,go. Full steam ahead. This is Pink power as good as it gets. Very enjoyable all trough

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of her Career, August 14, 2006
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
The other reviews saying that this is one of the best CD's of P!nk's career weren't kidding. This album is my favorite and the dvd extras on the dual disc were awesome, too. If you are looking for something new and also like a variety of music, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars P!nk at her absolute best!, May 30, 2006
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
I didn't think I could love a P!nk album as much as I did "M!ssundaztood" but I have to say that "I'm Not Dead" is an amazing album and that I may like it even better that "M!ssundaztood". P!nk is in a whole different league with this album. "I'm Not Dead" is one of the must-own albums of 2006 in my opinion. Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Exception To the Rule of 'Pop', June 18, 2006
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
It may not have been as large a hit as her 2001 triumph "M!ssundaztood," but P!nk's 2003 LP "Try This" certified her artistic prowess and left no doubt that she was in a class all her own. She continues this trend of increasing musical quirkiness and thus quality with her aptly-titled comeback effort "I'm Not Dead."

With lead single "Stupid Girls" P!nk has affirmed in a downright infectious way what many have felt in frustration for the longest time - this culture cultivates stupid girls, and everything about it is despicable. Also, follow-up single "Who Knew?," on which she collaborated with pop tunesmith Max Martin, shines and sparkles in all the right places and is a likely summer hit.

However, sharp material abounds in much variety on "I'm Not Dead." The title crack crackles and lilts with forthrightness amid its raw arrangements and stream-of-conscious lyrics, while "Dear Mr. President," collaboration with the Indigo Girls, may be the most dignified and effective protest of the Bush administration recorded yet.

"How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?/How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?/How do you walk with your head held high?/Can you even look me in the eye?"

She also includes an excellent slice of pure power pop with "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)" that fits her personal style while still sounding pointedly mainstream, while brooding over intense subject matter in selections like the passionate "Long Way to Happy" and "Runaway," the latter of which serves as a companion to "Conversations With My 13-Year-Old Self." Both realistically articulate the darkness that often accompanies growing up, a skill P!nk has proven deft at.

Also included are the illustrious "Nobody Knows" and "The One That Got Away," the latter of which finds her sounding like a much more talented Phoebe Buffay. Last but not least, she displays her signature attitude with "`Cuz I Can" and "U + Ur Hand," the latter in which she forthrightly tells her man that she refuses to be objectified as a sex object.

Overall, P!nk has come a long way since the pop/r&b trappings of her debut album six years ago. Not only has her music increased in quality with each successive record, but she has proven herself an excellent role model for young people through her lyrics, individuality and political awareness. Pop stars may be a dime a dozen these days, but she is an exception to the rule.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, but DualDisc's are a pain!, May 26, 2006
This review is from: I'm Not Dead (Audio CD)
Well, I'm not really a Pink fan, my wife likes her and that's why we bought the CD but I gotta say this CD is really good. Pink has a great voice and the bonus track with her dad is wonderful. However, my wife put the CD in our 5 CD Changer in slot number 1 and it played it just fine, so we went to take it out to watch the DVD footage and the CD got stuck! I decided to take the screws off and see if I could get the CD out, well apparently Phillips didn't want me to do that because they used these stupid screws that no one in the world would have a screwdriver to fit (except maybe them of course). So I pull it down off my entertainment center and decided to fool with it in the other room. I turned it in different directions and kept pressing "open" to see if it would dislodge it and open the CD tray so I could take it out...finally in a miracle the CD tray opened and I got it out! All I have to say is that if you buy this DO NOT PUT IT IN A SHELF DISC CHANGER! The thickness is too great and it WILL get stuck!
