This is a fabulous story for young kids. It teaches them to accept who they are without being preachy. I read it to my grandchildren and when I was finished, they wanted me to read it again and again. It's a perfect bed time book. And the illustrations are wonderful.

Lots to love with this book! Great writing, wonderful illustrations, fun characters--like the dynamic Evelyn who's not one single bit ordinary, (Band-aids with pearls . . . Trust me!)and a very important message about self-acceptance without all the boring preach. Nice!

Maybe he's a little too old but the story was awkward to read. He didn't get the whole "i'm not" part. YMMV.

The story is fun and engaging for both pre and early readers. However, I ordered this for the iPad2 and the book's layout is NOT optimized for the iPad. If ordering for kindle apps make sure you click on The "A Peek Inside" photos below editorial review. Those pictures show you how the book will look on the iPad. They are much smaller than they could be on the iPad resulting in lots of frustrating white space. You can enlarge them by clicking on a picture (which makes them much closer to how they should appear) but you cannot "turn" the page while you're zoomed. Not a good value for the price.
