5.0 out of 5 stars This is NOT the old Tiffany. You'll love the whole CD!
I am 30 years old and well remember the Tiffany from the 80s. I wasn't a fan then, but due to her new album (The Color of Silence), I definitely am now. This single "I'm Not Sleeping" is good, but there are many other, better songs on the CD including my favorite "Open My Eyes" and "If Only." I have read the reviews from the professional...

I've been a hardcore Tiffany fan ever since 1987, and was eagerly looking forward to this new single and her album 'The Color of Silence'. After months of delay and back-and-forth, this single was released to radio stations and the public in October 2000 on Eureka Records. The single has two tracks - the album version and the radio edit. It comes in a Diskpack cover, with...

I am 30 years old and well remember the Tiffany from the 80s. I wasn't a fan then, but due to her new album (The Color of Silence), I definitely am now. This single "I'm Not Sleeping" is good, but there are many other, better songs on the CD including my favorite "Open My Eyes" and "If Only." I have read the reviews from the professional music critics about the CD and they are right on. Her music is fresh, meaningful and beautiful. I give her a lot of credit for taking a second shot after being out of the music scene for so long. I hope her music gets all of the attention it deserves this time. Tiffany has matured as an artist and her music very well reflects that. Anyone who writes off this CD thinking it's the "old Tiffany" is missing a wonderful work of art. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully Tiffany is here to stay this time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiffany is back and better than ever!, October 27, 2000

Many of you will remember Tiffany, the pop star who was at the top of the charts in the mid- and late-1980s. After taking a decade off, Tiffany has returned to recording and is better than ever. She's clearly grown up, and her voice and singing style reflects it. With a harder edge and now writing most of her own lyrics, Tiffany's sultry voice sounds better than ever. "I'm Not Sleeping" is the first of what should be many hits from her new CD, "The Color of Silence." Chances are if you are a fan of Paula Cole or Alanis Morrisette, you'll love the new Tiffany. Try it, you'll definitely like it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best return, October 25, 2000
This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
I've been a hardcore Tiffany fan ever since 1987, and was eagerly looking forward to this new single and her album 'The Color of Silence'. After months of delay and back-and-forth, this single was released to radio stations and the public in October 2000 on Eureka Records. The single has two tracks - the album version and the radio edit. It comes in a Diskpack cover, with the lyrics inside. The CD itself is a cheery red, with an interesting font.

Considering that her last noteworthy album release came in 1993 ('Dreams never die', released only in Asia), and now that shes 28 years old, its not difficult to understand why the music sounds the way it does. Its not at all like her earlier stuff, and much to her credit, its perhaps the best she has ever sounded.

This single, featuring Krazie Bone, is hardly something thats going to burn up the charts (blame Eureka Records for the shoddiest effort at distribution seen this decade - they could singlehandedly be responsible for this song's early demise at sales), but its fiery and strong - something that Tiffany has not demonstrated in her long career. It also boasts some decent songwriting, and a laudable vocal delivery.

However, the appearance of Krazie Bone is a little grating. He appears at the end of Track 1 on this 2-track CD single, and while it doesn't sound really out-of-place, it DOES strike one as somewhat silly and unnecessary. Also, he doesn't have the best sense of rhythm, and the lines hes been given are somewhat amusing ('nightmares (pause)... in the night', etc.).

This could well sink without a trace as has most of Tiff's releases since 1988, but lets hope that listeners find this at least halfway catchy. Its sure better than anything thats currently on the airwaves, thats for sure!

Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hey......So thats what happened to Tiffany, October 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
Hmmm....first of all this is not the old "I Think We're Alone Now" Tiffany......its seems shes aged and instead of singing the bubblegum pop that made her popular in the 80s shes pulled off her own Alanis Morrisette transformation from cheesy dance pop to angry rock chick. The good thing is she pulls it off...and well. The only reason im not giving this 5 stars is that i know some people do not like rap and this single features Krayzie Bone....i like it but if u hate rap you probably wont like the song as much. All in all this single seems to be a good preview to what Tiffanys doing now in the 21st century....on her new CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember, this is the CD Single, March 5, 2001
This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
I have seen many reviews up on this page mistaking this title for Tiffany's new album 'The Color of Silence.' This is just the single version of the first single from the album.

The single CD has two versions of the song : one with a rap section, and one without. Apparently, Tiffany's management decided on this so that radio DJs could pick which version to air. Unfortunately, no DJ in America really picked up this song for serious airplay, except for certain parts of California and Tampa, which is why it never made the Top 200 Singles Charts, and died an early death. Pity, because this is much better music than all the trash out there at the moment.

I got this CD the week it came out, in 2000. Pick it up as numbers are limited, and also try to get your hands on the entire album, which is a gem not to be missed.

Thanks for reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars The wonderful come back titled The Color Of Silence, September 11, 2001
This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
Tiffany's comeback album may not be nearly as huge as her 80's music, but this is by far better than anything she put out in the 80's.Tiffany has grown up and she has done it beautifully. The whole CD has some of the best songs ever written.I am glad to hear this side of Tiffany. It shows that she can write her own songs on her own and doesn't need synthasyzers or anything.Tiffany's voice has matured and she sounds amazing. If you were once a fan of Tiffany and are wanting to hear something more mature, then I suggest you buy this CD.

I fell asleep one night dazed and alone. Feeling utterly depressed. The color of silence played on repeat cycles in the background. As I awoke in the middle of the night, I heard "open my eyes". Warmth filled my body and that VOICE (the voice of an angel)gave me goosebumps. Those lyrics "Open my eyes, for a little while, little while, make me forget all the things I've seen...the song gave me comfort. The catchy guitar riffs, the musical arrangement...just perfect. I just want to let everyone know that the album "The color of silence" will take you on an emotional journey. From track one to track 13. All, I mean all songs are worthy of being played. The album is worth every penny you pay. It does wonders for me, everytime I am going through some difficulty in my life. Through the breakup of my significant other (Keep walking) and the heart break of losing a loved one (If only), to feeling revenge (piss u off), Tiffany's songs are like a best freind that knows what you are going through. Tiffany's strong yet subtle vocals are therapeutic in their own right. She is a very talented singer despite her over produced past albums. This new release is deserving of all the positive reviews it receives. As to the comparison Alanis. Vocally there is really no comparision. Tiffany has her own unique style, a friendlier honest voice. As for the thoughtful and insightness of the lyrics, yes you can compare that to Jagged Little Pill. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and let Tiffany's gift of song take you away.

5.0 out of 5 stars find the full cd!!!, June 15, 2001
This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
If you have been wondering about all the buzz about the cd from which this single was pulled, i can assure you the good buzz is justified. Find the cd where you can. Tiffany was compared to a young Stevie Nicks by a Billboard magazine reviewer on her "Old Friends Hand 80's cd) & here she proves that review justified as she matures into an accomplished songwriter and interpreter of her own and others compositions. Key cuts are "i'm not sleeping", the fun "piss you off", "keep walking", the touching "if only", rocking "cinnamon" and the others are good too. This cd is a gem of a return to recording - hopefully radio will find a track to deliver the deserved comeback. Regardless- one listen and you realize this will be not the last we hear of Tiffany. 5 stars!! FIND IT!! it is called "THE COLOR OF SILENCE".

Never in your wildest dreams thought you would be a TIFFANY fan??? Me neither, but the CD, The Color Of Silence, may change that. Too bad it will never get the recognition it deserves. A great album, over and over and over!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BRAVO!, March 6, 2001

This review is from: I'm Not Sleeping (Audio CD)
I love her voice. She's so strong, and it's impressive that she wrote more than half the songs on this new albumn, Color of Silence. Amazon doesn't have it, but CDNOW does if you're interested. Saw her live on her recent college campus tour and Tiffany is back with a vengance! ...even sang I Think We're Alone Now with a rock twist. It actually sounds better this way. Tiffany really grew into a mature individual with a real talent for writing catchy and meaningful music. As we all know, being stuck in the Christina Aguilara age of music, that this is a rare and welcome sight!

This particular song is just plain beautiful. But, the others on her albumn are equally lyrical. Lots of guitar, lots of woman-strength coming out of your speakers. Female adult contemporary fans will love love love her new sound! Tiffany fits right in with the Lillith Fair ideal.
