Great Album by Mindy McCready,

This review is from: I'm Not So Tough (Audio CD)
I have all of Mindy McCready's albums, but I must say that "I'm Not So Tough" is the best one of the three! The songs are awesome and her voice is so beautiful. I especially like the catchy tune "All I Want Is Everything." The only reason I didn't give this album five stars was the fact that a lot of the songs have the same tune and sort of resemble each other. However, overall it is a wonderful, solid album. I would definitely recommend buying it, especially if you own her two previous albums.

Best CD of 1999,

Mindy McCready never ceases to amaze me. She hand-picked the songs for this album and did an altogether stellar job. The best song on the album is "Take Me Apart," a sassy number. She has touching ballads, such as "Hold Me" and "Dream On," as well as a poppy, "Over and Over," which would have been a huge hit if it had been released to radio. "I'm Not So Tough," "Thunder and Roses," and "Lucky Me" are also among the smart, heart-felt songs that make this album a total success.

Getting Better and Better!,

One of the first things I noticed when I heard the first song in the album was how much her style has changed compared to her first debut. I simply admire her current style, the way she uses her voice to carry the message across in her songs. It's amazing! One thing about voices like that, it's so very unique not many people can try and sing the very same song and get the same effect like Mindy's. You go, girl! This album is definitely worth the money. Definitely better than her previous ones.

She's back,

I've always loved Mindy, but even I can say that her second CD was lacking.....however, her third one shows that she is on her way again. Though it may not have the awesome lyrics of her first CD, it has tons of emotion. Mindy's voice has diffinently matured. This CD shows her many talents.....almost like a different voice with each song. Songs such as "Thunder and Roses", "Over and Over" and "I'm Not So Tough" will keep the record in your CD player. For any Mindy fan, this CD will remind you of why you feel in love with her the first time.

"I'm not so Tough",

This is an excellent album. There's something for everyone. It's a bit out of order but it's actually a chronology of love. The beginning, the middle, nearing the end, the end, starting over w/ baggage and so on. "I'm not so tough" is the starting over w/ baggage song which really is an anthem to men. It says, "I may have walls but if you give me chance I'll let you inside." "Tumble and Roll" is the middle. "All I want is everything" is the post breakup anthem when you're tired of hurting but want the fairy tale because its safe and unattainable. "Two different things" is the break up. "Dream On" is the song for when you've fallen in love but it's time to say goodnight or like someone else referred the long distance love has to go home. "I've got a feeling" is the anticipation of being with the one which you've fallen in love. "Thunder and Roses" is the dance of dating before you find a lasting love. "Over and Over" is when you just realize you are falling in love and you can't get enough of being with this new person. When the past is forgotten and the now is all that there is. "Lucky me" is one of the bads before the good when you just want to throw in the towel. "Hold me" is when you've been in a relationship for a while and you need the tender touch of love. It's about making things feel better and not taking each other for granted. "Take me apart" is when you first meet someone and you want them to take a chance. So my only complaint about the album is the lack of chronology. It should have been:
LUCKY ME THUNDER & ROSES TAKE ME APART OVER AND OVER DREAM ON I'VE GOT A FEELING TUMBLE AND ROLL HOLD ME TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING I'M NOT SO TOUGH Then maybe some people would get the story the album tells. Like most country songs, the album tells a story. Some of the songs may be missing that country flare but one only has to look and hear the album as a whole to realize its there just not where they've been looking. I highly recommend this album especially to anyone in one of these stages of love.

This cd has been in my car cd player for the longest time. Ihave had this cd since It almost first came out and after buying a lot of modern country music I have to say this is the cd of the year. There is a freshness to the many styles of music she is luckily bestowing on us. Her voice has a refreshing joy to it that is hard to find. I love this cd, but folks it takes time to grow on you. There are many many styles of tunes on this cd and that is the magic to it. Ballads are spectular... Please Mindy dont let whatever slow sales or bad luck you have had stop you from makeing such wonderful music.

MINDY DESERVES MORE CREDIT !,

WHY BNA RECORDS HAD ISSUES WITH THIS ALBUM IS BEYOND ME. MINDY SHOULD GET SO MUCH MORE RESPECT IN THE BUSINESS, AND THIS ALBUM SAYS WHY.THIS RECORD IS FULL OF CATCHY MELODIC TUNES AS WELL AS SOME AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL BALLADS. HER VOICE SHINES ON THIS RECORD LIKE NO OTHER. "DREAM ON" AND "THUNDER AND ROSES" PROVES THAT, AND WHEN YOUR READY FOR THE TOE TAPPIN, "TUMBLE AND ROLL" AND "ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING" WILL TAKE CARE OF THOSE NEEDS. THIS IS TRULY A UNIQUE SOUNDING RECORD, WITH IT'S MANY POP SONGS WITH COUNTRY OVERTUNES IT ALSO HAS A GRITTY EDGE WHICH HELPS THE RECORD PACK A PUNCH. ALL EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT IS HER OUTSTANDING DEBUT RECORD "TEN THOUSAND ANGELS" BUT "I'M NOT SO TOUGH" IS A RECORD THAT SHOULD BE TALKED ABOUT MUCH MORE. SINCE HER PARTING WAYS WITH BNA AND THIS RECORD NOT GETTING MUCH ATTENTION, IT TRULY IS A GEM THAT YOU SHOULD TAKE NOTICE OF. CAPITOL RECORDS OF NASHVILLE WHO HAS JUST SIGNED HER MADE A GREAT DECISION. MINDY IF YOUR OUT THERE YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF THIS RECORD, AND HOPE YOU COME VISIT US IN CHICAGO.

I purchased mindy's newest album "I'm not so tough" a few days after it's release, and i cannot seem to get it out of my CD player! This album is her finest work yet. It is clear to see that Mindy Mccready and the talented musicians on this album worked very hard. It's musical content is as strong as it's lyrical content. Some of the great songs on this album are, "I've got a feeling", "Over and Over", "Take me apart", And the well arranged title track " I'm not so tough". You'll have this CD on top of your playlist for months to come. Get it today!

I just cant imagine why Mrs. Mccready as talented a singer as she cant find good material. Her first cd was terrific and led me to buy her next 2. The songs are rather bland and without punch.

I've been a Mindy McCready fan since her outstanding debut, "Ten Thousand Angels". Her last album, "IF I Don't Stay The Night", was better than this collection by far. Although, both are blatently commercial. This slick collection has no staying power at all. Even jukeboxes will be puking this one up. No lyrics are included, not so strange considering simple simon songs like "Lucky Me". I almost feel guilty giving my honest opinion on this one since I really loved "Ten Thousand Angels". Do yourself a favor save your money or pick up her debut.
