Don't Pass This DIVA Off As Another "Britney Spears",
By One World "One World" (Denver, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I'm Outta Love / Baptize My Soul (Audio CD)
To do so would be FOOLHARDY! Now while Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are wonderful pop singers, Anastacia is a whole new experience. For those of you who love the soulful singing of divas like Chaka Khan her days with Rufus, Pattie LaBelle or Jennifer Holliday, you'll be blown away by this gal's VOCAL abilities. This one can belt it out. Perhaps it was an insight from the marketing executives to show only the backside of this singer on her debut CD single. What a contrast to Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, both of who's CD's sport pretty faces and sexy poses. Anastacia need only to sing. Even Mariah Carey and Madonna had better be on the alert. The cd single also has a bonus track titled "Baptize My Soul". Here, Anastacia's singing will evoke the likes of Chaka Khan. Both the title track and the Bonus song have great lyrics. I trully cannot wait til the full CD is released. The remixes are all good but it's the vocal that is the meat here, the remixes are merely the "condiments". Usually to see big names like Hex Hector means that the song will likely be good because of the remix versions. NOT SO IN THIS CASE! Anastasia takes the cake and eats is too.

Great music with attitude!,

Anastacia has something that pits her above the other pop divas of today. She's beautiful, sexy, sassy, WITH ATTITUDE! She feels for the music and she won't take no crap. Nothing like the "sweet" persona of Britney or the off-handish ways of Christina. I'm Outta Love is a fantastic single that establishes her instantly. Expect big things from this girl! She will prove to be a stayer!

WOW! Diva-ism Isn't Dead!,

With the recent comeback of bubble gum pop music, it is truly refreshing to hear a Diva such as Anastacia. If you like "sisters who can sang", you gotta get this one. She reminds me of one of the best Divas - Martha Wash. Everybody Dance Now!

sounds like another diva that i know of....,
This review is from: I'm Outta Love / Baptize My Soul (Audio CD)
Anastacia sounds eerily similar to dance diva Taylor Dayne. The similarity is stunning. Whereas Taylor has proven herself to be a diva, Anastacia still has some work to do. Given, "I'm Outta Love" is a good way to start. The original version sounds like something that Taylor would have done in her earlier days, it's the remix that kicks this one into gear. Hex Hector works some more of his magic here with this one, turning "I'm Outta Love" into a fierce house jam. Matthias Heilbronn also does a little bit of reworking of his own. Whereas Hex's mix is a little harder, Matty's mix is waaayyy smoother, not as club heavy, but a nice mix anyways. Ron Trent's remix is way too long, and kind of silly. It tries to hard to sound "cool". It tries to have a disco-sex-70's-feel to it, and it just makes a big mess of the song. If Anastacia wants to become a full blown diva, she has to lose songs like "Baptize My Soul". And just one more comparison to Taylor Dayne. If you compare the front cover of this single and Taylor's "Naked Without You" single you will see these similarities:1) two women (supposedly) naked on the covers 1) two women with their backs turned to the camera 2) two women with blond hair flowing down their backs 3) two women with tattoos on their lower backs Could this be the work of record company execs trying to pass Anastacia off as the next Taylor? Or is my mind just working overtime?

This is a great song and is worth the money. Be forewarned that the full length album doesn't sound much like this song!

After the countless Britney's and 'NSYNC's, Anastacia along with Lara Fabian bring back respect to the word "pop".

Why 2 stars?,

I don't give the 2 stars for Anastacia's ability, but rather the content of the CD-maxi-single. The original cut of 'I'm Outta Love' is brilliant - it doesn't, and didn't need remixing as far as I'm concerned. I mainly bought the single to get 'Baptize My Soul' which, in itself, is brilliant as well. I have bought the full album 'Not That Kind' as well and cannot fault the majority of the tracks on it (I have been driving my neighbours mad with the repeated playings of it actually.... :)The only problem is that I have to keep skipping over track #6 (forget the name) because it sounds too much like Taylor Dane (sp?) - I cannot stand her voice, and much prefer Anastacia's own style. From only the one film clip that I have seen of Anastacia - she has stage presence, is a true performer, has a voice that is thoroughly engorssing, and is destined to go a long, LONG way if she retains her individuality. The combination of soft rock and dance in 'I'm Outta Love' is a fantastic way to start. Keep up the good work Anastacia and ignore bad critics - I can't wait for your next album!

Remember Janis Jopin?,
This review is from: I'm Outta Love / Baptize My Soul (Audio CD)
Her voice is so powerful you'd seriously expect somebody blacker and twice her size. Remember when you FIRST put the voice and body of Jenis Joplin together? It's the same thing.
