My husband liked this one so much we're adding it to our library. The moral of the book is to be content with and proud of who you are no matter what. "I'm a pig. I'm a pig. And I don't give a fig, if you call me a pig cause that's what I am." What a great 1st line :-)

This review is from: I'm a Pig (Hardcover)
Sarah Weeks presents the reader with a young pig that is absolutely overjoyed to be a pig. The reader follows the young pig as it shows off all the fun pig activities it can do including sniffing out truffles near the Eiffel Tower, rolling around in the mud in a swanky Roman bath and oinking at the moon. This uplifting story stresses esteem and ability. Repetitive and rhythmic, the story never becomes redundant. In addition to tying in perfectly with the text, Holly Berry's illustrations will enhance the read-aloud experience for many young preschool audiences through the power of their many cute and delightful details. A definite must for pig lovers young and old alike.

My two year old received this book as a gift and loves it. The text is quick and light for on-the-go toddlers and the illustrations are wonderfully detailed and comical. My daughter points out objects from the multiple scenes (beach, Irish countryside, truffle hunting), so it's an opportunity to interact and learn. It's a playful, joyful book with a wonderful underlying message about self-esteem.
