I thought this was a great book. It went into great detail about what to expect, organized neatly month by month. One of the main differences between this book and many others like it is the abundance of color photos. It also includes special sections on conception, diet and exercise, maternity rights, labor and birth, postpartum issues and a concerns and complication section. I bought many books on this subject including What to expect and The Pregnancy book. I thought both What to Expect and I'm pregnant were the better two. Some of the comments about this book baffled me. As a pro-lifer I didn't find anything in this book offensive. Termination was mentioned but in no way advocated. In my opinion, the author simply presented thorough discussions on most situations that might arise during pregnancy. I found this to be along the lines of the content you would find in any pregnancy book on the subject. I also didn't think the author was slanted towards midwifes either. The author is an OB herself. I don't feel either provider was advocated.

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist and a Geneticist I feel this is one of the best pregnancy guide books on the market. When my sister got pregnant I looked for a book that not only would answer her day to day questions about what was happening with her pregnancy, but would also address the what ifs about potential pregnancy complications. I found most of the books on the market to be too simple for a college educated, medically savy patient. In addition to containing up to date information about screening and diagnostic tests it has great pictures and is easy to read. I've since recommended the book to several of my patients. The only downfall (if you can call it that) is that the author is British so there pieces of the book that more accurately reflect the routines of prenatal care in the UK.

This book has been extremely helpful for my wife and I. On what to eat and how much exercise she needs. To why she is feeling the way she does and what is causing the nausea and other discomforts. This is our first child and is a learning experience for both, but this book has been a Godsend. Lot's of photos and helpful tips and information.

This book contains a ton of info. However, the intelligent use of graphics, color, tables, etc. in this book make it very accessible. (Some of the other books I perused seemed to be harder to follow.) As a first-time father-to-be, I also appreciate Dr. Regan's sensible and sympathetic tone.

The only pregnancy book that doesn't make me scared...,

This review is from: I'm Pregnant!: A week-by-week guide from conception to birth (Paperback)
This is the best pregnancy book I have read so far. This is our first pregnancy and my husband and I were trying to read up on it as much as possible. I used to get in a really foul mood after reading a couple of pregnancy books, like "What to expect" and "the Whole Pregnancy Book." I found that they don't explain some things very well, and the information only got me worried about this and that. For example, there is a chapter in "What to expect" about still birth. It talked about how to cope with it but gave no information about what causes it. The chapter freaked me out. So for a while I stopped reading any pregnancy books.
Then my colleague recommended this book, and I loved it. It's got nice, colorful pictures and pages. I loved the 3D photos of the baby. I also find the information neutral. Some of the books are purely from the perspectives of modern science, and some of my other books are very midwife-centered. I find this book being nicely in the middle. It gives you so much information about labor and postpartum care that I think I probably didn't need to pay the $190 for my birthing class at the hospital. This book has got all the information you need!

I thought this was a very informative and well-written book. As a first-time mother-to-be I was scared to death and had no idea what to expect. I felt this book gave me a lot of information and was well-balanced in offering views and information on the the different options and issues concerning pregnancy and childbirth.

I absolutely loved this book. I initially picked it up because of the pictures in it (most of the other books I looked at just had sketches) and quickly found that I really enjoyed the format of it and the overall wealth of information.
I will admit that I did couple it with the My Pregnancy Week to Week book so that I could get a more comprehensive overview of what to expect in any given week, since I'm Pregnant! grouped information into timeframes instead of focusing on one week at a time, but overall I was very satisfied with this book and have recommended it to several of my friends.

What an excellent book. It is all-encompassing, and not only takes you through pregnancy in a non-biased way (giving you a broad perspective with a ob-gyn to a midwife) it gives you a look through and after child birth. The information is accurate, complete, helpful, and easy to digest. It puts all of the other pregnancy books to shame. I bought the old stand-by "What to Expect When You're Expecting" when I first found out I was pregnant and think it will work well for starting a fire in my fire pit now that I've found "I'm Pregnant!".

I bought this book and the Your Pregnancy Week by Week, and although I use both of them, this one is my favorite. I think the colorful photographs and illustrations are so informative and don't see these in many PG books. I love the tone of the author, she is informative and also empathetic (she gave birth to twins). I agree with one of the other reviews that some of the other PG books are too simplistic, they tell you what will happen, but not necessarily why. I like the detail that this book gives about everything. Highly recommend it!

The perfect pregnancy book...,

I have been reading "I'm Pregnant" by Lesley Regan throughout my pregnancy. I really like it because she simply presents all the options and never picks a side. It takes you through each stage of pregnancy and tells you what you may be feeling now, or what is happening now, week by week. In some of the other books I read, you really got a sence of the authors opinion and I did not like that. I liked "I'm Pregnant" because she give you all of the information you need to know, but let's you decide what is right for you. I also like it because it is up to date. I suggest this book to all pregnant woman. :)
