5.0 out of 5 stars stripped down and beautiful, February 8, 2002
There is nothing that can be put into type to describe how truly amazing this CD is. Saves the Day is one of the best bands around, and this is a glimpse at a side of the band that isn't visible on their LP's. No Crunchy riffs, no tight, loud drums, and no thudding bass. Just Acoustics, and the stripped down vocals of Chris. This CD is beautiful. The guitars sound so...real, and are very well played. Chris delivers an amazing vocal performace, he really pours his heart into every word. His words hang heavy in the air, and even though people have criticized, his voice isn't all that whinny, and even if it is, it's amazing. This CD is less than 15 minutes, but it's some of the best material this band has ever recorded. Every person should own this. This is what you listen to while going to sleep, and this is what you listen to when you've had a bad day and you just want to sit and be there. This is amazingly real and stripped down, emotional music. I'm not ashamed to say that this CD made me cry the first time I heard it, and it still does (yes, I am a guy, and I'm proud to admit I cry). Beautiful in every sense of the word, a must own for all music fans. .... Pay whatever, but buy this CD. It's what music is all about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Saves The Day - I'm Sorry I'm Leaving., August 29, 2004
Saves The Day, 'I'm Sorry I'm Leaving' acoustic EP is clearly a transition of the 'Through Being Cool/Can't Slow Down' era. Of course, at the time of the release, no one knew that. What makes this different and unique from the likes of Dashboard and such, is that Saves The Day hadn't exactly changed their sound. They still have those amazing 4/4 power chord riffs, awesome basslines, Chris's raw voice, and the same sort of lyrics as showcased on their previous records. As well as Chris singing his heart out as he does on every release.

1. 'I'm Sorry I'm Leaving' - The title track to the record is the opener to the EP. Chris sings his heart out. This one involves the full band with basses and drums. Personally, i think its decent, but i like it.
2. 'Hold' - This is a really great song. The chorus is catchy, and the lyrics are really deep, and beautiful. This one is just Chris and a guitar. One of the stand outs.
3. 'Jessie & My Whetstone' - Another stand out. Its a bit faster paced, but great vocals as usual, and a very catchy chorus.
4. 'Take Our Cars Now' - This is one of my favorites as well. Great song, and the chorus is really catchy as well. The lyrics are good and deep, and everytime i hear it, i imagine the scenario of the it.
5. 'I Melt With You' - My least favorite on the EP. Its a cover of a Modern English song. It features the whole band too, but its pretty boring.

Overall, even though its not long, its a very good acoustic EP. The songs are good as well. They are also avalible on the 'Up And Downs' record that just came out. This is definetly on most Saves The Day's fan collection already. I heard this is in it's final print, so get your copy before they are out of print. Its worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best cd i've heard in a while!, May 18, 2002
By "onlycutecarla" (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews
HEY, what`s up?...first things first... I`m not going to sit here and bore you by writing a "thousand word" review, I`m just going to tell you all you need to know, ok? Allright... this Saves the day cd is great...everything's just perfect...heart-felt lyrics(sung by a guy named Chris who delivers great vocals), and awesome acoustic guitars. The music on the cd is some of the best you will ever hear. If you like Dashboard Confessionals , you'll probably like Saves the Day. Honestly, though, I can`t compare them to any other band, because their music is so original. Contrary to what my fellow Houstonian has to say right below me(InertiaKissed) this cd IS spectacular despite having only 5 songs. My personal favorite (I`m sure you`re wondering)...is "Hold". But anyways, i`m gonna stop writing so i can give *you* a chance to go take a listen. You won`t be dissapointed! Well, I`m out...peace.
