Seems like old times, July 7, 2007
This review is from: I'm a Spam Fan: America's Best-Loved Foods (Hardcover)
I couldn't lay this book down. I read about all of the good stuff my sister and I grew up on -- and some I had never heard of. Carolyn Wyman gives some interesting insight on "how it got started". Good food. Good pictures. Great writing. I went out and bought two cans of Spam to eat while I was reading!

Charming, entertaining and delicious, October 22, 2011
This review is from: I'm a Spam Fan: America's Best-Loved Foods (Hardcover)
Actually, the book is not delicious, but it is charming and entertaining. It is about some delicious foods --- many of which, sadly, one doesn't eat much any more if one is trying to eat healthy things (Hostess Twinkies come to mind!)
It's about foods which are just taken for granted, foods that are commonplace, foods that are and have been loved over the years.
Categories include breakfast foods, condiments, snack foods, breads and many more.
The information about how these foods came to be is very interesting, and the author's style is friendly and quite readable. Many times,as I read (that is "read", present tense) I still find myself saying something like, "Hmm! How about that?" or "I didn't know that!"
I think this is a good book for people who like trivia, people who like to eat, people who wonder where their food came from, and people who just like to read about interesting things.
My mother-in-law gave me this book many years ago. I still pull it off the shelf and look at it --- often while I am eating!
I just recently decided I would share it with my brother, so I bought a used copy at amazon.com. Maybe he will enjoy it as much as I have; I hope so.
