5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful, January 2, 1999
No doubt, this is THE Al Green album. When I first got hip to Mr. Green this was the one that did it. And what an album it is! My personal favorite is "What a Wonderful Thing Love Is". When he enters the song's break singing for the first time in falsetto "...with you..." it just about breaks your heart. Songs like this one make it hard to remain cynical about love.

The rest of the album doesn't have a single weak song either. "Simply Beautiful" is quite likely the most delicate song ever put on wax. When it's time to put the lights down low this track is about as good as it gets. "Love and Happiness" and "I'm Still In Love With You" will probably already be familliar to the average R & B fan but suffer nothing in repeated listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Listen, October 20, 2002
Listening to this album is an amazing and intense emotional musical experience from start to finish. There is not a song on the album that lags in any way and pretty much every song is as enjoyable as the singles from this album.
Nobody has a voice as powerful, intense, nuanced, and emotional as Al Green, and the production and arrangements on this album are flawless. The horn section is important, but not bombastic. The fact that this album remains relevant and beautiful after 30 years just makes me happy, and i'm only 20 years old. So people of all ages, if you don't own this album, get it as soon as you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Green Stills Rules, March 14, 2001
I'm Still In Love With You contains some of the most underrated songs in Al Green's catalog. "Simply Beautiful" contains one his best vocals and should have been released as a single as it could have been a big hit. "Love & Happiness" and the title track are the two hits from the album and are excellent. He follows Ray Charles' lead by combining country and soul on "For The Good Times", "Look What You done For Me" and "One Of These Good Old Days".

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. SOULFUL LOVE & GROOVE AT BEST, July 24, 1998
This album is amazing! Every track is good but most are Al at his excellent best. 'Simply Beautiful' has to be one of the best, little know, Love songs of all time. Put this album on when your with your Lover and you'll be as full of fire as Al obviously is.

Oh yes. Definitely my favorite Al Green album, and definitely one of the greatest soul albums in history. The opening title track gives Al yet another classic ballad, with an awesome "I-hi-hi... wrapped up in your love..." vocal hook and horns adding a lot of punch. "I'm Glad You're Mine," a Latin-funk crossover with a very creative string arrangement and kick-butt vocals, is just as good; and then there's my favorite, the gospel-funk sex jam "Love and Happiness." It's amazing how well he milks that one groove, thanks to another incredibly creative horn arrangement, an enviable guitar riff, and the usual vocal goodness, with Al doing everything from whispering to moaning to screaming to monologuing. The organ sounds great too, and it's got a lot of bottom. It's also my pick for Al Green's greatest song ever. "What a Wonderful Thing Love Is" threatens to push into sap with its slightly syrupy intro, but then Al's vocals come in and everything turns all right. Because he's Al Green and he's one of the best singers ever, that's why! The song itself isn't a particular favorite, but Green's vocals are enough to make it good. "Simply Beautiful," Green singing over a guitar vamp, minimal percussion, and subdued strings, is pretty much is a showcase for Green's vocals, and it works for the simple reason that it's an awesome vocal performance. It's an interesting experiment, and it works tremendously. And his cover of "Pretty Woman" is quite good - a lot better than I had expected it to be. Al Green is great at inhabiting other people's songs, making them his own, and sometimes even improving on the originals. He also does this on his cover of the country standard "For the Good Times." And "Look What You Done for Me" is yet another of Al's very best tunes - he really testifies on the vocals, it's got all kinds of hooks, and once more, the horns are awesome! And the closing "One of These Good Old Days" ends the album on a high note. This is a total classic album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, Al Green's Best album, June 9, 2000
That's the only word I can come up with when describing this album. I'm still in love with you (the Al Green white album) is easily Al green's best album (my opinion) and one of best soul albums ever. I'm still in love with you the title tracks starts things off and immediately from hearing the first horns blow you know that this is a classic. Then there's the out right funk of I'm glad you're mine. Then there's the classic Love and Happines sung as only Al Green can sing it. Other standout tracks are the spledid covers Al Green has become known for. Al's version of Pretty woman sounds almost as fresh as Roy orbisons and his version of for the good times still gives me the chills. The other tracks, What a wonderful thing love is, Look what you've done for me, and one of theses days which finished this album are all standard Al green tracks which is nothing less than spectacular. Like the title one of the tracks on this album says this album is Simply beautiful. I still listen to this album every so often and regardless of how often I listen to it I never tire of it. There's not a wasted track on this entire album. This is a must have for any Soul/ Al green fan or anyone who appreciates good music.

I bought this album after I already owned "Greatest Hits" and decided I needed some more Al Green. I'm glad I did! This cd will make smoke come out of your stereo.

I FELL IN LOVE WITH AL GREEN THANKS TO THE INSPIRATION OF MY YOUNGER BROTHER. I ESPECIALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH HIS LOVE SONGS. NO MATTER WHAT STATE OF MIND I'M IN OR WHERE I AM, IF AL GREEN COMES ON THE RADIO, I LITE UP!!! TILL THIS DAY, CERTAIN SONGS WILL MAKE ME CRY, LAUGH, OR SMILE. NEVER HAVE I FELT SUCH RAW EMOTION, AND FEELINGS OF JOY, THAN WHEN I LISTEN TO AL GREEN. THE WAY HE USES OCTAVES IS INCREDIBLE. IT'S AS IF HE'S SINGING TO YOU, OR DESCRIBING SOMETHING YOU'VE BEEN THROUGH. HIS ALBUM IS DEFINATELY GOING TO BE A MUST AT MY WEDDING.
