More About the Author

KELLY STANDING
Author, Motivational Speaker and Executive Coach

You might not want to stand too close to Kelly.

Kelly Standing has been hit by a car, struck by lightning, and hanged from a tree. Completely unrelated, she had a major organ removed. ... It grew back! With 48 hours to live, at the age of 29, doctors told her to say goodbye to her three-year-old daughter. Kelly went into the light, came back out and lived to tell about it. And tell about it she does in her new book, along with the stories of her many brushes with death and what those experiences have taught her about life and living.

"I'm Still Standing: How One Woman's Brushes with Death Taught Her How To Live" is a funny, honest, moving memoir of growing up in a stable, loving family but still finding herself oddly living on the edge of danger in the 60s and 70s (available on Amazon.com and imstillstandingbook.com).

When she hasn't been facing down death and disaster, Kelly has spent her time as a speechwriter and presentation coach helping America's top executives and even a few celebrities make great impressions when giving speeches or even making small talk. In addition, Kelly has enjoyed extraordinary success as a speaker herself, earning standing ovations from corporate, association and nonprofit audiences and ranking among the top nine speakers in the world out of 25,000 contestants and 180,000 Toastmasters in the 2001 World Championship of Public Speaking.

Kelly has helped executives find their authentic voices in a broad range of industries: healthcare, financial services, agriculture, oil & gas refining and marketing, restaurants, consumer foods, real estate and retail. Kelly helps individuals and organizations go deeper, to consider and craft the legacies they hope to leave.

Kelly grew up in St. Louis and is based in Chicago, where she runs her company STANDING Media. She travels the country for speaking engagements and book-signings. Standing Media works with organizations that want their people to rally around change and adversity, so they can blow the doors off every goal they set.

The Introduction prepares you for one great reading experience, so like the book tells you on the intro page "Don't skip this!! IT'S IMPORTANT!"

Read it and then read it (or listen to it) again....If this story doesn't move you, then you can't be moved. a Story of Perseverance, a message of coping with adversity, a success story, a story of eternal optimism and a story of faith all rolled into one lady's life.

I can't wait to send copies to my friends who will love this message as much as I do.

Once the unique literary style grabs you (about chapter two) you will love it. The Introduction prepares you for one great reading experience, so like the book tells you on the intro page "Don't skip this!! IT'S IMPORTANT!"

I am a book junkie, and I am sure glad my instincts lead me to this one.

Kelly Standing has experienced in her lifetime what might equal the knock-downs in a dozen other lives. She is the personification of resilience and somehow, through it all, manages to not only keep her faith and humor, but manifest them in a way that we are all believers by the end. Her unique writing style and personality are compelling and convincing. This is a book that you will want to share with others with the assurance it's a "can't put it down page-turner" of a read.

Talk about turning negatives into positivies -- WOW -- Kelly Standing has really faced some of life's greatest adversities and come up on the sunnier side of the street. She weaves the happenings over her lifetime into the woman she is today. I think looking at her story can help you, as it did me, to better understand who you are today. I have had the privilege to meet Kelly and admire her warmth, courageousness, and willingness to reach out to others -- this all comes through in her book. Read it!

This is the best book I have read IN YEARS! Just know that once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you will be inspired by the positive life lessons the author sets forth to describe her ability to triumph over life's tragedies. I gave a copy to my mom and best friend, and they both loved it too. A "MUST READ" for anyone looking for an uplifting perspective on handling life's trials and tribulations.

Kelly Standing tells her life story through several smaller stories. Each smaller story is told with transparency, vulnerability, honesty, openness, wisdom, humor, and most importantly purpose. Kelly's style allows anyone to easily relate to not only her trials and struggles, but also to the principles that she employs to overcome these trials and issues in her life. These principles are only discovered, learned and mastered through experience, and this book allows you to grow, learn and thrive by employing these principles from Kelly's experiences. You will be encouraged, empowered, inspired and enlightened through Kelly's genuine and thoughtful sharing of her life, and you will want to share her book with people you care about! I had the privilege of hearing Kelly speak in person, and she is a gifted, dynamic and engaging speaker in addition to a talented writer.
