More About the Author

Born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, Kiki Swinson discovered her flair for writing twelve years ago after completing her first novel entitled "Mad Shambles," while serving a five year sentence at a federal prison for "being the wifey" of a known drug dealer. This charge is known as "knowing of and/or about a criminal-enterprise."

After being released in December 1996, she did a little research and learned about the success of authors such as Bebe Moore Campbell, Terry McMillan and Sheneska Jackson. She said, "DangÂ… these women got it going on. And if they did it, so can I!"

Ms. Swinson, later went on to self-publish "Mad Shambles." Her passion for writing didn't stop there. Writing feverishly into the wee hours of the night, she completed her second novel, Wifey, which was picked up and published by Melodrama Publishing. After the success of Wifey, there was an overwhelming demand for her to write a sequel. Her fans wanted more so Ms. Swinson decided to answer all unanswered questions. The result is a creative, gritty work of fiction entitled, "I'm Still Wifey."

5.0 out of 5 stars I read it in 3 hours, September 10, 2007
This review is from: I'm Still Wifey (Paperback)
This book is crazy!!!!

I read Wifey in 3 days, but part II....I could not put it down. I'm pissed at how my girl Kira exited, but thats just how it goes. Me personally, I would have never snitched on my husband and it has nothing to do with no stupid hood manual.

Oh and for those who said there will not be a part III are wrong. Part III titled "Life After Wifey" comes out on 10/15. It picks up with Nikki and her man Syncere......can't wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book...., July 23, 2008
This review is from: I'm Still Wifey (Paperback)
I'm still wifey was very good. It is the follow up to wifey. In I'm still wifey Kira had to deal with the bad choices she made from the 1st book. This book was definitely a page turner, but I recommend that you read Wifey to completely understand everything that is going on.

2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment, February 7, 2006
This review is from: I'm Still Wifey (Paperback)
From the first book, Wifey, to this? I truly was not pleased with this book. It seemed rushed and just not well developed. In fact, much of the book was predictable.

Had the author gone a different route, I think she could have carried this storyline for at least another book if not a couple more, especially by further developing Nikki's and Rhonda's characters (and a creative writer still would). I never did get a clear understanding of what happened to them.

I can understand wanting to put out a sequel while the initial story is fresh in the reader's head, in fact, I applaud Ms. Swinson for that. However, it should not be done unless the story can be fully developed enough to become a quality novel.

If the author chooses to further develop the other characters of this book or wishes to write future novels, I would suggest she read and study LaJill Hunt's novels, as she does an excellent job with her sequels and development of other characters within her different storylines.
