4.0 out of 5 stars IM the Supervisor indeed
This is the third album I have picked up of Infected Mushroom, the other two being BP empire and Classical Mushroom. With this album, it seems that IM has distilled down its sound, defined something that "IS" Infected Mushroom. Its a no-frills album (as compared with previous releases), and hits very hard. If you are looking for something to dance to from IM, this is it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Infected enough
As a long time I.M. fan, I'm sorry to say that they got it wrong on this album. The vocals are a little too much for my taste in psy-trance. There are better choices out there for good goa trance. If you are new to goa trance and really want some I.M. music, then go with some of their older stuff.

If you are looking for something to dance to from IM, this is it!

If however, you are looking for wierdness the likes of shpongle as I am, you may find yourself disappointed. I can definitely relate to the review saying this isn't infected enough. For me, Classical mushroom was the best release of the 3 that I have heard (Also my 2nd favorite album behind Shpongle's latest album "Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost", a breath-takingly wierd album), followed by BP, and then this album. That also happens to be the chronology these albums were released in, so IM seems to be going downhill, at least in what I am looking for. That is, extremely well layered and hard to define psytrance/IDM sound, something radically different from what I have heard before. IM definitely fails in this department, as this album is really a distillation of the previous albums into a more basic, harder hitting sound.

Essentially, if you are looking for an album that grabs you by the throat, smacks you around a little and kicks your butt onto the dance floor, you will like this album. Also, if you are coming from the more mainstream area of progressive trance, this album will be more accessible as an intro to psytrance. If you are looking for more organic, intricately layered and wierder sounds, check out classical mushroom, or the last two albums Shpongle has put out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible musical art!!, January 13, 2006

IM the supervisor is the most awe striking, perfectly mixed and polished piece of art I've ever heard. You can savor the silence between the music! Infected Mushroom has blown me away every time they release an album and I would recommend them all however this one is a cut above. It's the sound quality and little sounds and tweeks that prevent you from closing your jaw. This album is more hard and psytrance stamped than "converting vegetarians" but it's so impressive you won't mind. Just dance untill you fall down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah, COME ON COME ON!, October 7, 2005

Infected Mushroom, in an utter blink of surprise, have surpassed themselves. I honestly didn't think they could do any better, after the 2 CD Hit, "Converting Vegetarians", but obviously they did! This CD weaves an intricate band of beeps, swirls, flangs, tones, and clicks that give you the impression of a possible out-of-body experience that could keep anyone coming back for more. Granted, they aren't a traditional style of Psy-Trance, but, that's what gives them their edge. They have a style like no other. Their use of classical violins, heavy metal guitars, and the combination of hardcore beats make this CD a definite buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent intro to Psychedelic Trance, June 13, 2005
Infected Mushroom's trademark Israeli sound hits hard and furiously in the duo's latest album, I.M. the Supervisor. While purists may deride the use of vocals, they soften Psychedelic Trance's more cerebral sound in a way that's danceable and immediately enjoyable to novices of the genre. But that's not to say this isn't an edgy album. "Bombat" and "Frog Machine" feature psychedelic synthtars will have you yearning for more, while symphonic segues and interludes in "Ratio Schmatio" will have you questioning reality. The catchy "Cities of the Future" re-appears here and the dub-style "Muse Breaks" will recall a past life in Jamaica. This is no doubt a crowning achievement for this fringe genre, and for Infected Mushroom as well. A must-own for all fans of Goa-style and Psychedelic Trance.

4.0 out of 5 stars great intro album, May 9, 2008

This review is from: Im the Supervisor (Audio CD)
I had found these guys through some exploratory downloading, of "classical techno". Now, they don't really do any classical music remixes, but one of their songs got in there, and caught my attention. After sampling a few more of their songs, i decided "yeah, these guys are worth buying."
I was going to buy Vicious Delicious at first, but for a first-buy, it was a little to expensive, so i went with this one, just in case i didn't like it.
I was happily impressed though, and will definitely be going back to get more of their albums! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting avant-garde Israeli trance, August 9, 2005
I interviewed these guys for [...]and I must say they are fun and their new album grabs me. It is listened in the Hom-Mega catalog not as trance but as trance/electronica. This album is a departure from their first two albums and closer in spirit to Converting Vegetarians, their last album. There are 2 tracks with singing and actual lyrics giving it a slight house feel, but as always, they pump the songs full of strange blips and bleeps and create music out of very non-musical sounding whirls and crackles that sound like they've been made with the latest state-of-the-art keyboard synthesizer or perhaps hours of playing with audio computer programs. The first track has sparse repeating lyrics consisting of "dance with me/come on come on" and has an almost 80's sounding hip-hop beat that shifts back into a familiar throbbing trance beat. This makes me laugh out loud and I believe that's the point. If you're a trance purist and want non-stop throbbing electronica that puts you in a trance, you may be annoyed by the tracks on this new album that suddenly breaks into classical violins and then shifts into heavy metal guitars and then shifts into a throbbing trance beat combined with classical violins and heavy metal guitars. The last track is a continuation of Dancing With Kadafi from a previous album which also combines live instruments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Despite that other review, this is not even close to techno., June 24, 2005
This was the first Infected Mushroom album I heard, and its a good one I'd say. Although, it doesn't compare to Converting Vegetarians. Their psychedelic sounds don't stop and the basslines keep pounding at you. This is psychedelic trance at its finest and should not be overlooked by any fans of trance or goa.

It is interesting how they use lyrics in this album, although many trance artists use some sampling, they use actual lyrics which at an interesting feel to the music I find. But they aren't so obtrusive that they distract you from whats going on with the crazy synths. Muse Breaks Remix is a memorable song, because it feels very different from the rest of the album, but Frog Machine and Cities of the Future are easily the best of the album. Looking to get into Infected Mushroom? Pick up Converting Vegetarians, already have that? Then get this.
