5.0 out of 5 stars I Can't Stop Listening, May 28, 2009

This is my first McKee album, but I guarantee it won't be my last. What a discovery! Her voice is textured and rich, and has a tethered power that she wields effectively to express a full range of emotions from the first track to the last. I know Bobby Charles must be smiling big down Louisiana-way, because McKee pulls you right into the story lines of his lyrics. Great instrumentals, too.

Beth McKee, please please please release another album soon! My faves on this one: 'But I Do,' 'I'm That Way,' and the achingly beautiful 'I Don't See Me.'

I have long been a fan of Bobby Charles songs and this collection of his tunes by Beth McKee intrigued me. Wow, what a knock out! It was made even better to see that she had such a fine band, notably two favorites of mine: Juan Perez who played on one cut on one of my locally produced albums, Alligators in Love! and who performed with the Jimmy Conner Band when we opened for Jesse Colin Young at the Great Southern Music Hall...fabulous player with mega-credentials; and Tommy Calton on lead guitar. Calton was the lead guitarist for Hotel, a show stopping band from Birmingham. Why Hotel did not take over the world escapes me. Calton is as good as they get and a true gentleman to boot. McKee takes this fabulous catalog of songs and lifts higher and higher. Great vocals and interpretations. The whole band cooks. Glad to see Tony Battaglia playing too. A fine musician who formally lived in Gainesville way back when. Love this one.
