I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand his or her behaviour in situations. The "A-Ha" feeling you get when you start reading it comes when you understand why so-and-so makes you feel small or angry and why certain situations make you start playing some game. It discusses the basic terminologies and vocabulary needed and then goes on to discuss in different social contexts and developmental contexts the application of Transaction Analysis. This is not just a vague psychology book like Freud. It is extremely practical and insightful.

Life Changer,

I was first handed this book as a young graduate student and it transformed the way I view myself and others. This isn't a feel-good, pop psych book. It is a classic on the process of becoming much more self-aware and living the life you choose. Pass this one on to friends, family and colleagues . . .

I read this book on an inner prompting and I'm so glad I did. It's been a long time since I read a psychology book. This is a refreshing reminder that reason and logic *can* be applied to human relationships. After reading this book, to be able to say "I'm OK" with all sincerity now pervades that sentiment with a new sensation of mild rapture.
After a while though, the author gets too heavy-handed with it: everything begins to look like a transactional analysis nail that we will pound on with a P-A-C hammer. I rather imagine people would rapidly get pretty sick of this technique if everyone and every event in life were constantly viewed transactional analysis glasses. By the end of the book, I began to get quite weary of the repetition of the same phrases - it begins to feel like a cult indoctrination handbook. Nevertheless, I think the information and the approach is worthwhile, as long as its not overdone.

I read this book when it came out decades ago and I've benefited every day from it's advice. I bought this copy to give to my son. It teaches the reality of parent, adult, child relationships and how we can try to be as adult as we possibly can and how to help others to be an adult too. If your getting bossed around or whined at you need this book today!

My psychology professor recommended this book. I really like it. You get a lot out of it. If you're trying to understand your behavior or the behavior of someone else, this book could lend a lot of insight.

A must read for all... but especially good for 20-something young adults,

So many people go through life trying to figure out how they fit in and this book really is a great find if you're looking for a platform to navigate from.
I came across this book in my early 20s (many years ago) and it has given me a sense of calm as I go thru life. It's hard to explain and I'm sure everyone who reads it will have their own interpretation. For me, it made everything OK.

A return to roots,
This review is from: I'm Ok, You're Ok (Hardcover)
As good as it was when first published...even more meaningful after 30 years. As valid now as it was then.

An outstanding self-help book discussing human behavior based on transactional analysis, in an easy to understand language while still technical.

Self-Help Book extraordinaire,

I'm O.K., You're O.K.
I'm O.K., You're O.K. is an outstanding book for people with deep-seated mental problems. I'd recommend it for people such as S. Hauge who has an apparent Oedipus complex aka Scott-E-Dog. You really wonder about a person who adopts an alias with dog in it. Maybe he's trying to emulate Snoop-Dog. Poor, poor Scott-E-Dog. This self-help book could help if he could get someone to read it to him. You see Scott-E-Dog dropped out of school and has a difficult time reading without moving his lips and other body parts.
