The first Journey, not as good as ESCM,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ima (Audio CD)
The first album of the trance wizard BT is quite a journey indeed. But I must say I enjoy his 2nd album alot better than the tracks on "IMA".One of the reasons I like ESCM the best is because theres more to it... listen to the first track, its got everything, trance, chanting, guitars, pop-ish vocals, etc. Whats also cool is that on ESCM the tracks blend smoothly together and they enclude really cool sampling as well. I don't mean to rip on this disc in any way, I enjoy it for what it is, Trance...where as ESCM is more of an experience... The bonus disc on IMA is the one I spin more than the first one... I love his remix of blue skies, and sasha's mega mix is great... So, I recomend picking up ESCM along with this one, and if you want more BT or trance, get Paul Van Dyk's "Seven Ways" and listen to the last track on the bonus disc... its a BT remix, very cool.

Nearly as good. But of course...,

I can totally agree with some of the reviews given about BT and the comparison between this album and his others ESCM and MISL. What I think we need to realise is that these songs were written over 5 years ago and have no doubt changed the scene for future artists. At the time, this guy must have been a god! I'm one of those people who hears a good new album and immediately seek previous productions from the same artist. Overall, I am really beginning to love this CD (can you tell I'm listening right now 8-) and I think its definately worth adding to your collection. Listening to earlier works gives you an idea of the basis of the artist, where the guy/gal is coming from. In order of prefernce - I'd buy ESCM, MISL then IMA - I'm not putting down IMA - I just think you need to get to know the artist before you jump headlong into their past. But if you're a BT fan like me, you'll just HAVE to have it. The music is great, beats work in and out, there are melodies which come and go without you noticing, one of the best tracks (and longest) that I have heard in my life (serious) would have to be Sasha's Voyage of IMA - a track that long and that good should be a record! I think I've said enough. Long live BT, PVD, Chemical Bros. and those who shape their own scenes.

This is the closest you will ever get to experiencing life in the timespan of one hour. BT has created a beautiful journey, full of the joys and the tears that comprise the human experience... this is what emotion SOUNDS like.If you don't have this, buy it-- hell, I'll buy it for you. It is more valuable that gold and I would only hope that this CD will be the last thing I hear before I die. No joke.
