5.0 out of 5 stars "d" is for disease
holy...my mind is blown.

i put their cd in when i get in the shower, and i unabashedly sing and dance until i run the hot water tank dry.

so they're not good for my electric bill, but they sure are good for everything else. i daresay im addicted. and that their cd isn't very good at sharing. it hogs my cd player, and makes all my other cds...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very debut-y
Ima Robot's debut album is filled with a handful of good songs, and some embarassments that fail miserably. For the most part, the sound IS original, falling somewhere between The Undertones, Missing Persons, and Pulp. It's a hit-and-miss affair, but the good songs sure are catchy, and I their follow-up to this may just be incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing_Re-defining_Simply Amazing, January 20, 2006
This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
With the whole "emo"/punk rock movement on everybodies lips (i.e. mega-bands like 'My Chemical Romance' and 'Fallout Boy' to name a few) it is easy to see how numerous similar bands can emerge out of mediocracy and over-saturate the radio waves with mass produced music while landing guest spots on MTV's 'Total Request Live' performing infront of screaming 13 year old girls.

"Ima Robot" is one of those bands that transends and re-defines the genre. Though their self-titled album has been released over 2 years ago, it is a must own for all music lovers, whether you are part of the "scene" or not. The stand-out song on the album is "Scream" which was featured in the "Queer As Folk" soundtrack. The vocals of Alex Ebert give shades of bands like "Hot Hot Heat", but the accompaniment of pseudo New Age sound combinded with the punk guitar riffs & musical construction leave "Ima Robot" in a class all on its own. My personal favorites on the album are "Dirty Life", "A is for Action", and "Lets Talk Turkey". This album goes smoothly from track to track, and dont be surprised if you have the CD playing on loop.

On a side note, "Ima Robot"'s new album should be out this year (2006), on Capitol Records. Something to look forward to, whether you are a fan of the band, fan of the whole "emo"/punk rock genre, or just somebody who looks forward to CD releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunt down the singles, October 20, 2004
This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
The b sides to this album are just as brilliant if not better than the album tracks. They are tough and expensive to find, but worth it.

1. I'm Your Bitch
2. The Beat Goes On
3. STD Dance
4. The Strangler's Theme
5. Twist and Shout
6. 10:10
7. Ages of Ruin
8. Sign Your Life Away
9. Sex Symbols On Parade

It forms a whole other amazing album. Tracke em down and listen to the future. This band does not have a single bad song. Not a one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing Track, January 14, 2008
This is not really a review of this album so much as a question about why the 12th track, "Black Jettas" is missing? Supposedly it's not really a real track - it's a hidden track. But that should make the 11th track 9:05 instead of the 4:48 that Amazon is listing.

Can we have either a complete 11th track, including the hidden track, or else put "Black Jettas" up for download? Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, May 12, 2005
This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
This band is amazing, everything about their sound is just so composed and original. They dont try to write the heaviest or the fastests music possible. Instead they opt to write pure genuine songs. Do not listen to the other reviews who say this band has no talent, especially Samuel Abriham... the fact that person even likes the blood brothers is very troubling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, these guys rock, June 12, 2004

This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
Just to add my two cents, I saw these guys before ever hearing them and I was already humming songs after the show. They rock live, and their CD is great. I would describe it as the Sex Pistols jumped on an acid train and got derailed somewhere in 80's brit pop land. You want this CD, :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ima Makes the World Go Round, February 14, 2004
This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
One of the best ways to get into a new band is to see them live, and i was fortunate enough to be exposed to Ima Robot last fall in this way. After buying the album i was stunned by how much of the energy percieved in the live show emenates from the disc. This album is really a track by track work of indie art. Ima functions on a perfect blend of indie rock (the excelleny "Dynomite" and "12=3 (Here Come the Doctors" are standout examples), psychadellic progress (the danceable "Dirty Mind" and Bowie-esque "What are We Made From"), and absolute insanity (the catty and visceral "Here Come the Bombs" and the special track "Black Jettas," essentially an anaecdote of every Ex Boyfriend's worst nightmare). Some tracks, such as "Alive" and "Philosophofee" are remeniscent of early Brit Rock bands like Suede and Pulp in both vocal and musical style, and impressive homage to a long-missed era. The record perhaps shines most on "Scream," and perhaps many of 2003's albums would have been better if they too only had one song that was really about "love." Ima Robot's debut treads the line between attitude and art, and inevitably between emotion and energetic frenzy. What emerges is a disc well-worth keeping around for the long-haul, and a promise of even better things to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!, September 30, 2003
By
This review is from: Ima Robot (Audio CD)
I first saw this band on Letterman. And WHOA!

I haven't been this excited by new music since Cocteau Twins or Jane's Addiction!
This is definately the shot in the arm (of adreneline) that
popular music has needed for a very long time!

We've lived with cookie cutter coldplays and Disneyland Orange County Surf/Ska punks for WAY too long!

PAY ATTENTION!!!!! THIS IS THE FUTURE OF MUSIC!!!!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!

If this band isn't bigger than Nirvana in no time, I'll eat my

Cocteau Twins CD collection!
