didn't let us down..,
By D Terron "D Terron" (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Image of a Man (Audio CD)
So I have to say I was a HUGE fan of Winans phase II, so was very excited about this CD, and pre-ordered it a long time before it came out. MWJ did NOT disappoint! I give it four stars, because a few of the songs took third, fourth and fifth listenings, but they grow on you, and as soon as you figure out the powerful messages behind the songs, you can't get them out of your head. 'You never let me down' is a great song, and the continued repetition of the phrase 'you never let me down' makes you realize just how God never ever let us down. Don't want to go into detail about the other songs, but I recommend this CD. This is NOT a praise/worship CD, so if you're really not into the contemporary sound of gospel, you may not like this as much. But if you're willing to take a risk, I think it will pay off very nicely!

Hottest Gospel/R&B album so far,

I haven't even gotten the album yet, and I'm already sold to just listening to the samples. The production is tight and so is the singing. This is a complete package. The songs are relevant, smooth, and melodic. I'm not going to pick and choose tracks to buy in this album; I'm going for the whole enchilada.

The problem with buying a whole album is that often there are only a couple of good tracks worth putting your money into. Not so with this kicking album from Marvin. Cutting edge sound with some great backup vocals and bass. He even uses a little autotune. After buying this my J.Foxx CD went to the wayside.

When I ordered this CD the item condition was listed as VERY GOOD.....this was not the case. I was sent a CD that actually looked like it was cracked. The CD played, but 3 tracks were scratched/skipped. Not very happy that I was mislead to purchase a product that was NOT in very good condition as listesd!!!

I really like this CD, I have to admit at first I thought the songs were a bit to circular! But I listened to the songs again, and they do have messages about Christianity. The beats are hott and its a good alternative to R&B. I really love this CD, I would recommend it to anyone, Christian or not its a really good listen!

I was a little disappointed by the CD. I guess I was expecting more. There are a few good ones....like maybe two. I would just listen to the tracks and download the ones you want unless you simply have to have the CD. Still, big ups to the Winans. God bless.

Image Of A Man? Well, close...,

This album is pretty weak. A lot of it is just a combination of weak songwriting and bad gospel love songs. However...there are some pretty hot songs on here..
You Never Let Me Down: Despite the fact that this is overly saturated with auto-tune, the melodies and the message in the song are so strong, it's still good anyhow. I've played this song over and over several times it's not getting old. Really personal lyrics about how God never lets us down. (However I do wish he had mentioned the Lord's name...) 9/10 It's Been So Long: Took a while for this to catch on...but the beat is hot, and if you've ever been there in your relationship with God, you can relate. If not, you may be wondering what the song is about. 8/10 Feel It All: Strong song about relating to others who are in need of encouragement or a helping hand. I'm feeling it! 10/10 Put Your Love On Me: I hated this song at first, but like I said if you've been there with your relationship with God, you can relate. However, the concept is too close to a R&B record, and I wish he would be clearer in stating Who he's talking to. Steps To A Man: One of the slower, stripped down joints on the record. Talks about having to become a man because of hard circumstances and trials in life. 9/10 Come 2 Me: Good melody, talks about God wanting us to come to Him when we are troubled. 7/10 U Know Love: I like the story he tells in this song, about a girl whose looking for love in the wrong places. Nice beat, decent track overall. 10/10 Mistakes: Second best song overall. Really stripped down, talking about the mistakes that he's made, but how God has turned Him around even though he didn't desrve it. 10/10 A Single Rose: Another stripped down track about God's love 9/10 Check the samples before you decide to cop the album.

I don't get it. I'm used to booty shaking. The waiter on the album cover puts secretaries in unrevealing outfits in his videos. If that's your sexual niche than that's fine but this is not for me. The music is fair.
