George Bortin lectured extensively on the science and history of the Shroud. Virginia Bortin wrote about scientific experiments on the Shroud in an article for Biblical Archaeologist magazine. She was also the author of a syndicated newspaper series of articles about Old and New Testament archaeology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dan Brown meets Mary Renault, September 1, 2011
By
This review is from: Image of a Man (Paperback)
This book is part Dan Brown intrigue and part Mary Renault historical fiction. It follows the Shroud of Turin from 30 A.D. Jerusalem to Rome, Constantinople, Medieval and Renaissance Europe, and finally to 1978 Turin, Italy and a plot that threatens to destroy it. The stories surrounding the holy Shroud throughout history are fascinating and informative, including the clearest description of the Hundred Years War you will likely ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, April 1, 1999

This review is from: Image of a Man: A Novel of the Shroud of Turin (Hardcover)
Helps to be familiar with history of shroud, but book is excellent. Kind of slows at end, but seems very realistic.
