Lizandra Vega's life story is a testament to the premise of her new book, The Image of Success: Make a Great Impression and Land The Job You Want (AMACOM Books, May, 2010). She firmly believes that attention to the ABC's of image--Appearance, Behavior, and Communication--is integral to being a consummate professional. Ms. Vega grew up in the Bronx, a first-generation child of parents who moved from Puerto Rico. She attended Wesleyan University, and advanced in the business world by means of hard work, talent, and giving the utmost attention to presenting a polished and professional image.
Upon graduating from college in the early 1990's, Ms. Vega was accepted as a company member of the Spanish Repertory Theatre in New York City. She later worked for several years at a major recruitment firm, where she earned a top-notch reputation for representing executive talent. In 2003, Ms. Vega cofounded Perennial Resources International (PRI), a full-service, boutique-staffing firm based in Manhattan. As PRI's Managing Partner, Ms. Vega ranks as one of the most respected recruiters in the New York staffing arena. She has built the business around an elite roster of clients, and has successfully coached thousands of job candidates on all facets of career development; from résumé writing and wardrobe planning, to interview techniques and business protocol.
In order to provide her clients and candidates with a higher standard of service on image presentation in the workplace, Ms. Vega completed the Fashion Institute of Technology's Image Consulting Certification Program. She is a Certified Image Consultant and a past board member of the Association of Image Consultants International New York/Tri State Chapter.

I have made several bookmarks to refer to in the future. And who would imagine that the book on such serious subject is so amusing to read thanks to the author's witty style. It's thorough yet light hearted and answers so many questions you never thought to ask.Vega tells it like it is, from the way you shirt should fit to what your shoe says about you. Her tips on the ABC's of interviewing (appearance, behavior, communication) are invaluable. The art of selling yourself at "hello" is what you will master once you read this book.
