a must have book on placing images onto fabric,

Having an interest in textile printing,art,quilting and other visual crafts, I found Jean Ray Laury's book both informative and up to date on today's methods of image, computer transfer. This book explains in both words and in illustrations and nice photos.Laury, once the editor of "quilter's newsletter" has proven that crafting on fabric, transferring images to fabric and other imagery on fabric is doable by even a novice. Owning a computer and scanner, plus and ink jet or some kind of color printer would be helpful prior to purchasing this book. I learned how to transfer photos, scanned images, computer images from the internet etc. Quilters will have a blast with photo image quilts. Buy it !

From high tech computer photo transfer to the ancient art of leaf hammering, this book is a comprehensive presentation of fabric manipulation and imagery. Avoiding the "cutesy" trap of so many crafts books, this volume is sophisticated and will be useful to artists and crafters of many styles and sensibilities. Imagery on Fabric is smartly organized by method, rather than individual project, allowing for much more creativity from the reader. Each process is thoroughly explained and accompanied by fabulous photos of work by professional fiber artists as well as hobbyists. Laury also includes a useful list of resources for the various products and equipment that she discusses in her book. When I bought this book I was just fiddling with fabric and art quilts. Laury and her book singlehandedly motivated me to fully embrace fiber arts as an exciting means of artistic expression.

This book is a great introduction to all forms of surface design, with detailed instructions for tranferring images to fabric in many ways. Awesome introduction or reference for anyone interested in cyanotype, screenprinting, image transfer, batik, etc.
