I've been working with imagery for few years now and am awestruck how remarkable this modality is for physical/emotional/psychological/spiritual healing. Also for years I've been looking for a book that I can pass along to my clients to help them continue on their path of healing. At last, I found it. I don't know how the author came upon healing imagery (or what she calls deep imagery), but for me it was happenstance. I had studied to become a hypnotherapist and this was one of the techniques I'd learned. To be honest, it seemed odd. I mean imagining things and having an inner dialogue with images in your head? Come on. But my first session with a client left me flummoxed. It worked! And has ever since. While my role as a guide is certainly helpful to introduce healing imagery to a client, for continuous and long lasting results, a client is best served by making imagery part of his/her life. And Eureka! This book, Imagery for You, is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recipes for Transformation, December 30, 2007

This beautiful book about Imagery and its subtitle "Mining for Treasure in Your Inner World" is a must-read, must-do book! It is the most wise, and most practical book that I've read on inner journeys. Jenny bases her book on a 'recipe and five essential ingredients' that are so easy to use as we begin those inner journeys that open us to who we are, and help us to understand and embrace our life purposes. Jenny provides many avenues, and many styles, for us to explore any area of concern--from relationships with self and others, to open inquiry. My favorites are "The Garden of the Soul", and "Healing and the Body". She has also included a beautiful section on Imagery with Children which can be used to nurture healthy relationships with children's imaginations, to help them respond well to times of injury, illness, and other stresses, and to give them imagery tools to use for the rest of their lives. Please give this book your consideration. It is simply and beautifully written, comes from the heart, and promises to aid you in your own, or your loved ones' inner journeys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Imagery In You--A Journey into the Not-So-Uknown, November 12, 2007

I recently purchased this book. Being an avid reader and supporter of New Age thinking, I thought it would help in my struggles to live a peaceful life. Also, I was at a point that I wanted to try something different. And this book has done that. Jenny gently guides you step by step through several different imageries based on the situation you want to resolve. Whether it be Working with Life Issues and Questions (Chapter 17), Healing and the Body (Chapter 18), or Exploring Relationships through Deep Imagery (Chapter 19), there is something in there to address in a comfortable and deep seated way.

Imagery is not new, however, Jenny's approach is. It is kind, sensitive, thought-provoking, and supportive. Jenny's previous experience as an R.N. seems to incorporate this approach. Imagery in You is based on the fact you already have the answers; you just have to let go and use the tools you have to find them.

An interesting struggle I often had while doing other imagery or meditation, was staying connected to what was occurring. Oftentimes I found myself in a submissive role, and then would be strayed out of the moment simply because I knew heart-wise that submission is not my "greatest asset." But Jenny softens this conflict by saying that one should engage in a "conversation flow" with the image presented. She uses five essential ingredients to create this flow: 1) Greet the image, thank it for coming; 2) Ask whether there is a message and listen; 3) Ask whether anything is needed, and listen; 4) Ask whether anything needs to happen and listen, and 5) Say thank you and goodbye. It is through this I have realized that I have a voice and my imagery is much more comfortable.

Jenny's writing doesn't come from a place of "This is the only way it should feel". She allows one to explore and stretch her or his boundaries by offering some examples of what may happen, and she has certainly done her homework. She also encourages the reader to find her or his comfort zone, all the while gently prodding to continue.

My favorite piece in the book is entitled, The Place Between. This is the place between two people, whether they be lovers, husband and wife, or friends. It is here where Spirit presides and where you are connected and receive unbiased messages between you. I experienced this with someone I had just met, and it was powerful.

The book also contains anecdotes of several of Jenny's clients. This is important to me as I try to identify with the issues they have--a sort of "misery loves company" thing. The people and issues are real; the names are obviously changed.

If you have a few moments to give to a problem, want to look at life in a different way, or if you are in a continual process of meditation, you will certainly be benefited by this book.
