All-in-all, the set is great and a good deal.

Also, the tracks are compatible with other name-brand trains, such as Thomas and Brio.

This piece was also a little tight even with other tracks in this kit.

This is a great, great deal - even at the price on Amazon, which is more than the price at the brick and mortar stores.

My son is just over 2.5 years old. He loves Thomas as much as the next little boy, and this train table with all of its parts has become his personal "island of Sodor." You can see what comes with it: the train depot, bridge, crane, and so forth, as well as numerous extra pieces like a dump truck and wood cutout figures so I won't go through the entire list. What you can't truly see is the quality of the pieces - they're solid and sturdy. Most of them have a pretty good weight to them, and all of them seem as if they were built to handle abuse. Additionally, all of them are easily manipulated by my son - even the crane - with the exception of the doors on the train depot (we just leave them open for our son). If there's one complain, it's that the table is a bit too crowded. Obviously, that's easily solved by removing some pieces.

A few concerns that we had before we purchased the train table that were unwarranted . . .

1) Would it stay together without gluing down or track clamps? Yes. So far, we've only had to repair the track a couple of times over extended hours of play. The top of the mountain does tend to get knocked off once every other play session, but that's not a big deal. Long story short, no need to buy track clamps or glue etc...

2) Assembly time. We read on more than a few reviews that it would take hours and hours to assemble. Honestly, it probably took about two hours of casual building. Just be sure to build the train pieces one at a time and take the pieces out as needed. Two people are helpful for building the table (one holds the pieces while the other builds) but is not necessary at all.

My son (just over two years old) received this table as a Christmas gift this year and he loves it! I did a lot of research before choosing this table (because these suckers can be expensive!), and am so very pleased with my decision. Ours was purchased directly through ToysRUs (Imaginarium is their brand), but I wanted to review it here for those who are considering this table. As with any product, there are pros and cons, as I will explain below:

PROS

1. So. Many. Pieces! Unlike the other tables I saw (Thomas, Melissa and Doug, etc) this one came with so many fun pieces! There are over 120 pieces, including tracks and trains, bridges, waterfalls, engine garage, people, cars, even street lights and traffic cones! (I will probably put away all the teeny pieces until my son is old enough to play with them safely.) Also, the tracks are compatible with other name-brand trains, such as Thomas and Brio.

2. Seems really sturdy. It's just made of fiberboard (like other U-Build furniture), but when put together it doesn't rock or shake. My kiddo has already climbed up on it and it didn't budge.

3. Storage! It has a built in drawer that will hold all the tracks, trains, and small pieces. (The largest pieces won't fit, but they do fit nicely in a bucket underneath the table when not in use.)

4. Very realistic. I may be in the minority, but I actually can't stand the Thomas trains. (We do own a few from when my eldest was young.) I prefer things to look realistic, and I have never before seen a real train with a smiley face. I know a bunch of little boys who would probably like to have me flogged for saying that, but it's true. The pieces in this set are very realistic, with no silly faces. Everything looks real, and each piece is made well.

Verified Purchase
The table is O.K. The train tracks do not align smoothly. A few of the turns are too sharp for the longer engine and it constantly derails. For a little more money could have bought the Thomas set.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but am glad I took the risk. I am pregnant with our second and with the "help" of my 4 year old was able to build in less than 2 hours, including layout of the tank. I think the step that gave us the most trouble was the drawer.

Otherwise, quality is good for the price and comes with plenty of pieces. You do have to assemble everything including the roundhouse, train station, etc. But when you compare the price of what you get to what you pay for the name brand it's a no brainer! I mean, I almost bought the entire table for the price of the name brand roundhouse and my four year doesn't know the difference. Compatible with name brand trains.
